Red Letter Challenge - Palm Sunday
What a celebration! The king is greeted by a crowd all shouting “Hosanna!” Praising God and asking the King for salvation. However, the way He would bring salvation was not at all like any earthly kings would approach it... HIS Kingdom brings exactly what we need.

Red Letter Celebration
All Glory Laud And Honor
All glory laud and honor
To You Redeemer King
To whom the lips of children
Made sweet hosannas ring
You are the King of Israel
And Davids royal Son
Now in the Lords name coming
Our King and Blessed One
All glory laud and honor
To You Redeemer King
To whom the lips of children
Made sweet hosannas ring
To You before Your passion
They sang their hymns of praise
To You now high exalted
Our melody we raise
All glory laud and honor
To You Redeemer King
To whom the lips of children
Made sweet hosannas ring
Their praises You accepted
Accept the prayers we bring
Great Author of all goodness
O good and gracious King
All glory laud and honor
To You Redeemer King
To whom the lips of children
Made sweet hosannas ring
Scripture Reading
Mark 11:1-10 - As they approached Jerusalem…Jesus sent two of his disciples, saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and just as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord needs it and will send it back here shortly.’” They went and found a colt outside in the street, tied at a doorway. As they untied it, some people standing there asked, “What are you doing, untying that colt?” They answered as Jesus had told them to, and the people let them go. When they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks over it, he sat on it. Many people spread their cloaks on the road, while others spread branches they had cut in the fields. Those who went ahead and those who followed shouted, “Hosanna!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David!” “Hosanna in the highest heaven!”

Message: Palm Sunday
Crown Him With Many Crowns
Crown Him with many crowns
The Lamb upon His throne
Hark how the heavenly
Anthem drowns
All music but its own
Awake my soul and sing
Of Him who died for thee
And hail Him as thy
Matchless King
Through all eternity
Crown Him the Lord of life
Who triumphed o'er the grave
And rose victorious
In the strife
For those He came to save
His glories now we sing
Who died and rose on high
Who died eternal life to bring
And lives that death may die
Crown Him the Lord of years
The Potentate of time
Creator of the rolling spheres
Ineffably sublime
All hail Redeemer hail
For Thou hast died for me
Thy praise shall never never fail
Throughout eternity
Crown Him the Lord of heaven
Enthroned in worlds above
Crown Him the King to whom is given
The wondrous name of Love
Crown Him with many crowns
As thrones before Him fall
Crown Him ye kings with many crowns
For He is King of all
Red Letters of the Passion
Luke 19:39-40 - Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!” “I tell you,” he replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.”
John 18:36-37 - Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.” “You are a king, then!” said Pilate. Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.”
Matthew 27:37 - Above his head they placed the written charge against him: “this is Jesus, the King of the Jews.”
Son of Heaven
This is the word
Here in the flesh
Living among the meek and lowly
The voice of God
His every breath
Salvation of the world unfolding
Behold Him
Behold Him
Lift up your eyes
See the Son of Heaven
Hosanna
Hosanna
Pour out your praise
Sing the name of Jesus
This is His heart
Upon the cross
And from His wounds His mercies flowing
And now the dawn
Put death to death
And ever since that grave’s been empty
Behold Him
Behold Him
Lift up your eyes
See the Son of Heaven
Hosanna
Hosanna
Pour out your praise
Sing the name of Jesus
This is His home
Here in our chest
At every door our Savior’s knocking
Oh let Him in
Oh let Him out
With every yes His kingdom’s coming
The sound of every saint rejoicing
Oh Jesus Christ the hope of Glory
Behold Him
Behold Him
Lift up your eyes
See the Son of Heaven
Hosanna
Hosanna
Pour out your praise
Sing the name of Jesus
Behold Him
Behold Him
Lift up your eyes
See the Son of Heaven
Hosanna
Hosanna
Pour out your praise
Sing the name of Jesus
Pour out your praise
Sing the name of Jesus
Examination Before Communion
Leader: Do you believe that you are a sinner?
All: Yes, I believe it. I am a sinner.
Leader: How do you know this?
All: From the Ten Commandments, which I have not kept.
Leader: Are you sorry for your sins?
All: Yes, I am sorry that I have sinned against God.
Leader: What have you deserved from God because of your sins?
All: His wrath and displeasure, temporal death and eternal damnation.
Leader: Do you hope to be saved?
All: Yes, that is my hope.
Leader: In whom then do you trust?
All: In my dear Lord Jesus Christ.
Leader: Who is Christ?
All: The Son of God, true God and man.
Leader: What has Christ done for you that you trust in Him?
All: He died for me and shed His blood for me on the cross for the forgiveness of sins.
Leader: Do you believe that the true body and blood of Christ are in the Sacrament?
All: Yes, I believe it.
Leader: What should we do when we eat His body and drink His blood, and in this way receive His pledge?
All: We should remember and proclaim His death and the shedding of His blood, as He taught us: “This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”
Leader: Why should we remember and proclaim His death?
All: First, so that we may learn to believe that no creature could make satisfaction for our sins. Only Christ, true God and man, could do that. Second, so we may learn to be horrified by our sins, and to regard them as very serious. Third, so we may find joy and comfort in Christ alone, and through faith in Him be saved.
Leader: What motivated Christ to die and make full payment for your sins?
All: His great love for His Father and for me and other sinners.
Leader: Finally, why do you wish to go to the sacrament?
All: That I may learn to believe that Christ, out of great love, died for my sins, and also learn from Him to love God and my neighbor.
The Lord’s Prayer
All: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
Communion
The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod holds the Biblical teaching that in Communion we receive the true body and blood of Jesus Christ with the bread and wine for the forgiveness of sins. If you are a baptized Christian who has been instructed in the Biblical teaching of the real presence of the Christ in this meal and grace through faith in Christ, and if you agree with our confession of faith, please join with the fellowship of disciples in Holy Communion.
“Everyone should examine themselves first, and then eat the bread and drink of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgment on himself.” (1 Corinthians 11:28-29)
Blessing
Matthew 25:34 - “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.’”
Christ Be Magnified
Were creation suddenly articulate
With a thousand tongues to lift one cry
From north to south and east to west
We'd hear Christ be magnified
Were the whole earth echoing His eminence
His name would burst from sea and sky
From rivers to the mountain tops
We'd hear Christ be magnified
O Christ be magnified
Let His praise arise
Christ be magnified in me
O Christ be magnified
From the altar of my life
Christ be magnified in me
When every creature finds its inmost melody
And every human heart its native cry
Then in one enraptured hymn of praise
We'll sing Christ be magnified
O Christ be magnified
Let His praise arise
Christ be magnified in me
O Christ be magnified
From the altar of my life
Christ be magnified in me
I won't bow to idols
I'll stand strong and worship You
And if it puts me in the fire
I'll rejoice 'cause You're there too
I won't be formed by feelings
I’ll hold fast to what is true
If the cross brings transformation
Then I'll be crucified with You
'Cause death is just the doorway
Into resurrection life
If I join You in Your suffering
Then I'll join You when You rise
And when You return in glory
With all the angels and the saints
My heart will still be singing
My song will be the same
O Christ be magnified
Let His praise arise
Christ be magnified in me
O Christ be magnified
From the altar of my life
Christ be magnified in me
O Christ be magnified
Let His praise arise
Christ be magnified in me
O Christ be magnified
From the altar of my life
Christ be magnified in me
Son of Heaven
