Greeting & Announcements

Jesus said “I AM”

Pastor: Jesus announced to His disciples: "I am the way, and the truth, and the life."  (John 14:5)

All: Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long. (Psalm 25:5)

Pastor: Even though Jesus ascended to heaven, He promised to be with His followers:

All: "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." (John 14:27)

Cornerstone

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus' blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly trust in Jesus' Name

My hope is built on nothing less

I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly trust in Jesus' Name

Christ alone cornerstone
Weak made strong
In the Savior’s love
Through the storm
He is Lord Lord of all

When darkness seems to hide His face
I rest on His unchanging grace
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil
My anchor holds within the veil

Christ alone cornerstone
Weak made strong
In the Savior’s love
Through the storm
He is Lord Lord of all

Through the storm
He is Lord Lord of all

When He shall come with trumpet sound
Oh may I then in Him be found
Dressed in His righteousness alone
Faultless stand before the throne

Christ alone cornerstone
Weak made strong
In the Savior’s love
Through the storm
He is Lord Lord of all

Scripture Reading

John 14:15-27 - “If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”

Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, “But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?”

Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.

“All this I have spoken while still with you. But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Message: I Am The Way The Truth and The Life

1 John 1:8 - If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.

1 John 3:18 - Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.

John 1:14 - The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 14:1-4 - “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”

John 14:5-6 - Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Prayer

If you are in need of prayer, we would love the opportunity to pray with you! You can post a prayer on our online prayer wall, or submit a private prayer to our prayer team.

Confession & Forgiveness

Pastor: If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

All:  But if we confess our sins, God, who is faithful and just, will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

(Silence for self-examination)

Pastor:  Let us then confess our sins to God our Father.

All: Most merciful God, we confess that we are by nature sinful and unclean. We have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We justly deserve your present and eternal punishment. For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways to the glory of your holy name. Amen

Pastor: In the mercy of almighty God, Jesus Christ was given to die for us, and for his sake God forgives us all our sins. To those who believe in Jesus Christ he gives the power to become the children of God and bestows on them the Holy Spirit. May the Lord, who has begun this good work in us, bring it to completion in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

God Loved The World So That He Gave

God loved the world so that He gave
His only Son the lost to save
That all who would in Him believe
Should everlasting life receive

Christ Jesus is the ground of faith
Who was made flesh and suffered death
All then who trust in Christ alone
Are built on this chief cornerstone

If you are sick if death is near
This truth your troubled heart can cheer
Christ Jesus saves your soul from death
That is the firmest ground of faith

Be of good cheer for God's own Son
Forgives all sins which you have done
You're justified by Jesus' blood
Baptized you have the highest good

Glory to God the Father Son
And Holy Spirit Three in One
To you O blessed Trinity
Be praise now and eternally

Communion

The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod holds the Biblical teaching that in Communion we receive the true body and blood of Jesus Christ with the bread and wine for the forgiveness of sins. If you are a baptized Christian who has been instructed in the Biblical teaching of the real presence of the Christ in this meal and grace through faith in Christ, and if you agree with our confession of faith, please join with the fellowship of disciples in Holy Communion.

“Everyone should examine themselves first, and then eat the bread and drink of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgment on himself.” (1 Corinthians 11:28-29)

The Lord’s Prayer

All: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

Blessing

John 14:5-6 - “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

The Way

Through every battle
Through every heartbreak
Through every circumstance
I believe that You are my fortress
You are my portion
You are my hiding place
I believe You are

The Way the Truth the Life
I believe You are
The Way the Truth the Life
I believe

Through every blessing
Through every promise
Through every breath I take
I believe that You are provider
You are protector
You are the One I love
I believe You are

The Way the Truth the Life
I believe You are
The Way the Truth the Life
I believe You are

It's a new horizon
And I'm set on You
And You meet me here today
With mercies that are new
All my fears and doubts
They can all come too
Because they can't stay long
When I'm here with You
It's a new horizon
And I'm set on You
And You meet me here today
With mercies that are new
All my fears and doubts
They can all come too
Because they can't stay long
When I believe you are

The Way the Truth the Life
I believe You are
The Way the Truth the Life
I believe You are

It's a new horizon
And I'm set on You
And You meet me here today
With mercies that are new
All my fears and doubts
They can all come too
Because they can't stay long
When I believe You are

The Way the Truth the Life
I believe You are
The Way the Truth the Life
I believe You are
