Christ Be Magnified

Were creation suddenly articulate
With a thousand tongues to lift one cry
From north to south and east to west
We'd hear Christ be magnified

Were the whole earth echoing His eminence
His name would burst from sea and sky
From rivers to the mountain tops
We'd hear Christ be magnified

O Christ be magnified
Let His praise arise
Christ be magnified in me
O Christ be magnified
From the altar of my life
Christ be magnified in me

When every creature finds its inmost melody
And every human heart its native cry
Then in one enraptured hymn of praise
We'll sing Christ be magnified

O Christ be magnified
Let His praise arise
Christ be magnified in me
O Christ be magnified
From the altar of my life
Christ be magnified in me

I won't bow to idols
I'll stand strong and worship You
And if it puts me in the fire
I'll rejoice 'cause You're there too
I won't be formed by feelings
I’ll hold fast to what is true
If the cross brings transformation
Then I'll be crucified with You
'Cause death is just the doorway
Into resurrection life
If I join You in Your suffering
Then I'll join You when You rise
And when You return in glory
With all the angels and the saints
My heart will still be singing
My song will be the same

O Christ be magnified
Let His praise arise
Christ be magnified in me
O Christ be magnified
From the altar of my life
Christ be magnified in me
O Christ be magnified
Let His praise arise
Christ be magnified in me
O Christ be magnified
From the altar of my life
Christ be magnified in me

A Celebration of Home: Psalm 150

Pastor: Praise the Lord! Praise God in His sanctuary; praise Him under the open skies.

All: Praise Him for His acts of power; praise Him for His magnificent greatness.

Pastor: Praise Him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise Him by strumming soft strings.

All: Praise Him with the drums and dancing, praise Him with banjo and flute;

Pastor: Praise Him with the clash of cymbals, yes, loud clanging cymbals.

All: Let everything alive give praises to the Lord!

Pastor: You praise Him! Hallelujah!

Scripture Reading

Colossians 3:16-17 (NIV) - Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Message: Filled with Music

Psalm 100:1-5 - Make a joyful shout to the Lord…Serve the Lord with gladness, come before His presence with singing. Know that the Lord, He is God…Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations.

Psalm 69:30 - I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify Him with thanksgiving.

Psalm 104:33 - I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have my being. May my meditation be sweet to Him; I will be glad in the Lord.

Psalm 98:1 - Oh, sing to the Lord a new song! For He has done marvelous things;

Psalm 59:16 - But I will sing of Your power; yes, I will sing aloud of Your mercy in the morning; for You have been my defense and refuge in the day of my trouble. To You, O my Strength, I will sing praises; for God is my defense, the God of my mercy.

Psalm 47:1,6 - Oh, clap your hands, all you peoples! Shout to the Lord with the voice of triumph! For the Lord Most High is awesome; He is a great King over all the earth…Sing praises to God, sing praises!…For God is the King of all the earth

Psalm 105:5 - Remember His marvelous works which He has done, His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth…

Psalm 95:1-7 - Oh come, let us sing to the Lord! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. For the Lord is the great God, and the great King above all gods…Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord our Maker. For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand.

Psalm 66:1-4 - Make a joyful shout to God, all the earth! Sing out the honor of His name; make His praise glorious. Say to God, “How awesome are Your works! Through the greatness of Your power Your enemies shall submit themselves to You. All the earth shall worship You and sing praises to You; they shall sing praises to Your name.”

Psalm 96:1-4 - Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth. Sing to the Lord; praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples. For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise;

1 Samuel 16:23 - And so it was, whenever the spirit from God was upon Saul, that David would take a harp and play it with his hand. Then Saul would become refreshed and well, and the distressing spirit would depart from him.

Colossians 3:16-17 - Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Acts 16:25-26  - About midnight Paul and Silas were…singing hymns to God...Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken…all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose.

Confession & Forgiveness : Psalm 145

Pastor: Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; His greatness no one can fathom. One generation commends His works to another; they tell of His mighty acts.

All: Lord, I confess there are times where my home is not filled with praise - when the music of my kitchen and my electronics doesn't proclaim Your greatness.  I forget Your faithfulness, and I do not pour out Your praise.

Pastor: Nothing brings greater joy to our Lord than when we meditate on His wonderful works and proclaim His great deeds.  The Psalm assures us "The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love.  The Lord is good to all: He has compassion on all He has made."  In Christ all your sins and unfaithfullness has been forgiven and we are restored to sing His praise.  "The Lord is near to all who call on Him."

All: My mouth will speak in praise of the Lord. Let every creature praise his holy name for ever and ever.

Prayer

If you are in need of prayer, we would love the opportunity to pray with you! You can post a prayer on our online prayer wall, or submit a private prayer to our prayer team.

Communion

The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod holds the Biblical teaching that in Communion we receive the true body and blood of Jesus Christ with the bread and wine for the forgiveness of sins. If you are a baptized Christian who has been instructed in the Biblical teaching of the real presence of the Christ in this meal and grace through faith in Christ, and if you agree with our confession of faith, please join with the fellowship of disciples in Holy Communion.

“Everyone should examine themselves first, and then eat the bread and drink of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgment on himself.” (1 Corinthians 11:28-29)

The Lord’s Prayer

All: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

Blessing

Psalm 104:33 (NIV) - I will sing to the LORD all my life;  I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.

How Great Is Our God

The splendor of the King
Clothed in majesty
Let all the earth rejoice
All the earth rejoice
He wraps Himself in light
And darkness tries to hide
And trembles at His voice
And trembles at His voice

How great is our God
Sing with me
How great is our God
And all will see how great
How great is our God

And age to age He stands
And time is in His hands
Beginning and the End
Beginning and the End
The Godhead three in one
Father Spirit Son
The Lion and the Lamb
The Lion and the Lamb

How great is our God
Sing with me
How great is our God
And all will see how great
How great is our God

Name above all names
Worthy of all praise
My heart will sing
How great is our God
Name above all names
Worthy of all praise
My heart will sing
How great is our God

How great is our God
Sing with me
How great is our God
And all will see how great
How great is our God

How great is our God
Sing with me
How great is our God
And all will see how great
How great is our God
