Rise Up (Lazarus)

In the dark and all alone
Growing comfortable
Are you too scared to move
And walk out of this tomb
Buried underneath
The lies that you believed
Safe and sound
Stuck in the ground
Too lost to be found

You're just asleep
And it's time to leave

Come on and rise up
Take a breath you're alive now
Can't you hear the voice of Jesus calling us
Out from the grave like Lazarus
You're brand new
The power of death couldn't hold you
Can't you hear the voice of Jesus calling us
Out of the grave like Lazarus
Rise up rise up rise up
Out from the grave like Lazarus

When he said your name
The thing that filled your veins
Was more than blood
It's the kind of love
That washes sin away
Now the door is open wide
And the stone's been rolled aside
The old is gone the light has come

Come on and rise up
Take a breath you're alive now
Can't you hear the voice of Jesus calling us
Out from the grave like Lazarus
You're brand new
The power of death couldn't hold you
Can't you hear the voice of Jesus calling us
Out of the grave like Lazarus
Rise up rise up rise up
Out from the grave like Lazarus

He's calling us to walk out of the dark
He's giving us new resurrected hearts
He's calling us to walk out of the dark
He's giving us new resurrected hearts

Come on and rise up
Take a breath you're alive now
Can't you hear the voice of Jesus calling us
Out from the grave like Lazarus
You're brand new
The power of death couldn't hold you
Can't you hear the voice of Jesus calling us
Out of the grave like Lazarus
Rise up rise up rise up
Out from the grave like Lazarus
Rise up rise up rise up
Out from the grave like Lazarus

Greeting

The New Me - A Statement of Faith

Pastor:  Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: the old has gone, the new is here!  (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Pastor: The Scriptures tell us we are to throw off our old sinful nature and our former way of life and to put on the new self, created to be like God.  (Ephesians 4:22-24)

All:  We believe in God, the creator of all things, the source of all goodness and love.

We believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, true God yet true man.  He was crucified, died and was buried for our sin that we might be free and know the joy of new life. He was raised on the third day and ascended to heaven, and will come again in power and glory to judge both the living and the dead.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the power of God at work inside of us.  We believe in the Church of God, the people of faith throughout the world. We believe that our sin is forgiven and that we will live together with God for now and throughout all eternity.

Scripture Reading

1 Peter 1:2-5 - Grace and peace be yours in abundance. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.

STP KIDS Dismissal

STP KIDS is the Children’s Ministry at St. Peter’s Edina, designed for all children from 6 months to 10 years old (Grade 5). Older children are welcome to participate as helpers. Message: The New Me

2 Corinthians 5:17 -Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

Titus 2:11-12 - For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age

Titus 3:4-7 - But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.

Ephesians 4:22 - You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires;

Ephesians 4:23-24 - To be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

Romans 6:3-4 - Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

Isaiah 43:18-19 - This is what the LORD says—“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?

The Lord’s Prayer

All: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

Blessing

Revelation 21:5 - He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

Who You Say I Am

Who am I that the highest King
Would welcome me
I was lost but He brought me in
Oh His love for me
Oh His love for me

Who the Son sets free
Oh is free indeed
I'm a child of God
Yes I am

Free at last He has ransomed me
His grace runs deep
While I was a slave to sin
Jesus died for me
Yes He died for me

Who the Son sets free
Oh is free indeed
I'm a child of God
Yes I am
In my Father's house
There's a place for me
I'm a child of God
Yes I am

I am chosen not forsaken
I am who You say I am
You are for me not against me
I am who You say I am
I am chosen not forsaken
I am who You say I am
You are for me not against me
I am who You say I am
I am who You say I am

Who the Son sets free
Oh is free indeed
I'm a child of God
Yes I am
In my Father's house
There's a place for me
I'm a child of God
Yes I am
