Announcements (7-28-24)

Welcome

We are expecting God to do great things today! Thanks for connecting with us. If you are on campus, stop at the welcome center for a “Welcome Home” book with more details about St. Peter’s. We’d welcome you to call us your church home.

If you are online or if we can serve you in some way or you’d like to receive a weekly email link to view the message, complete the Digital Connect Card.

Sit back, listen, participate, and enjoy yourself as the love story of Jesus covers over you with peace as only He can bring.

He Gets Us.

Maybe you are concerned that if others knew you and your story and your history, they would push back. And maybe you feel that is how God feels about you too.

Pastor Mark wants us to look at Jesus in a way that we notice the way He approached those He encountered when He lived in our world. The truth is… He gets us. He really does. And He is in love with you.

Maybe you saw these words in an interesting footwashing ad during the Superbowl. You are invited to explore the story of Jesus and consider His way of unconditional love, grace, and forgiveness of others. The series will run through the summer Sundays.

Work Day

There are some facility projects underway that we need assistance to complete. Join in the fun with others to prep / and lay carpet squares downstairs in the hallway. 1/3 of the carpet has been laid. There is a little demo left in the hallway near the gym; some touch up painting needs to be done; vinyl cove molding that needs to be cut and attached. We also have some carpet stains in the commons that need TLC! We have stain lifter and a carpet cleaner. If the sanctuary is more your passion, a wipe down of seats, corners, trim, windows, and the altar would give glory to God. And if you are thinking, “not me” there is another task: our kitchen could use a wipe down & the window well down there has some COVID weeds that may now be trees!

Work days will be Tuesday 7/30 & 8/6 starting at 6:00 pm & Saturday 8/3 starting at 8:00am. Come and go as you need to. Let us know if you are coming below. Pastor Mark is coordinating so text him your questions. 612-799-0512.

Feedback

We value your feedback and are eager to hear from you! Whether you are a member of our church community or a part of our early childhood center, your insights are important to us. Please share your thoughts on what we are doing well and any suggestions for areas where we can improve. Your input helps us to continually enhance our programs and services to better meet families at the intersection of faith and real life.

The Chosen

The Chosen is a Christian historical drama series about the life and ministry of Jesus and the different people who met and followed or interacted with Him. If you want to experience Jesus in a whole new personable way, you will want to watch! Watch preview here. We are wrapping up season 3 today. The long awaited 4th season will begin on August 4!

Each week we watch an episode with popcorn, then enjoy a light meal during an intermission followed by another episode (approximately 2hrs + 15 min. in total) Choose between two showings:

Sunday Mornings at 11:00am
Wednesday Evenings at 6:00pm

There is no charge to participate - even to share in the meal. It is not too late to jump into the screenings. Join us this week!

You helped put Scriptures in many hands!

Thank you for your participation and encouragement of Vince Setten last week. Our door offering was $618. That will further the efforts of the Gideons to share God’s Word in our community. The Twin Cities Bible Blitz is October 6-10 -- an effort to distribute 30,000 Bibles in St. Paul, Minneapolis, and suburbs.

Mark 16:15 "And He said unto them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the Good News to all of creation.”

Tactics

The men have launched a new book study and discussion around a game plan for discussing our Christian convictions. Do you remember Colombo - that wacky police detective who asked questions to solve crimes? He is used as an example of who we can ask interested questions to learn people’s stories.

So many of us want to share our faith, but don’t know how to go about and certainly don’t want to offend our friends. Good news! It doesn’t have to be that way. Join us and discover how. We have a new book waiting for you. Just ask! We read chapters and then gather to watch a video by the author and then discuss and apply what we hear.

Giving

We are glad you are here. Grace is free. There is no cost.

However, when the Spirit gets ahold of our lives, we can’t help but be excited to share it with others. If you desire to do that, there is a basket on a stand just inside the doors of the sanctuary to leave a gift that supports our ministry. There are other ways to contribute as well. The more we discover the love story of Jesus, the more we want to join Him in what He is doing in the lives around us in the community and in the world.

Together we meet families at the intersection of faith and real life.

Help Your Neighbors

Thousands of students in the Bloomington, Richfield, and Edina school districts need help filling their backpacks this fall. Join us in supporting their academic success by making sure they have all the supplies they need for the year! We will be collecting donations for traditional school supplies like spiral notebooks, crayons, and washable markers as well as larger items like backpacks or wireless headphones/earbuds.

Please consider bringing items or a financial donation to support our back to school sharing!

Meet a Need

We have a friend of St. Peter’s who has gone through a long time of hardship. She recently was able to secure housing but needs groceries and has no food preparation tools. She could use pots, pans, cookie sheet, large spoons, spatula’s, etc. Bring any extra items you may have to the welcome center. A Walmart gift card or a donation to our Family Care Ministry will help her shop to get through the last days of July.

Thank you for caring and sharing with those in need.
