A Celebration of Life for Pastor Norm Ruthenbeck

“Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith.” Hebrews 13:7

Norm died Wednesday evening after a 6 week battle with Pancreatic cancer. In these last weeks - Pastor Norm continued to comfort his family - as well as all of us in the family of faith with the hope of eternal life. A service will take place at St. Peter's and include singing of many hymns and songs that he planned for this celebration!

Member Encouragement

Pastor Mark and brothers and sisters at STP,

I am still residing in the Transitional Care Unit (TCU) at Minnesota Masonic Home. I am extending my stay until September 21 or 22nd. I am working hard in physical therapy and occupational therapy. I am so thankful for the many encouraging cards and birthday cards that I have received. Many STP friends have visited me and that has meant the world to me. Thank you for praying for me!

‘Be Still and Know That I Am God' in Psalm 46:10 is the Bible verse that I am claiming.’ Psalm 46 is a beloved passage in which the psalmist declared that no matter what was happening around him, God was his refuge and strength. Safe in the assurance that he is God, we can wait on him even amid chaos. He is still on his throne.

I miss not going to church, singing with our fabulous worship team, attending Bible study and all of you at STP.

With much love,

Ann Weber

Grandparents Day - Part 2 Next Sunday

Please invite the grandparents in your life (including your neighbors) to part 2 of our series where we will honor grandparents. Your grandchildren need you - and not just as a companion or baby-sitter. God designed you to pass on a rich heritage of faith in Christ and make a difference in their lives. We will share, and celebrate, the role of grandparents according to the Bible. Everyone will discover Biblical principles to strengthen family relationships.

Praying for Grandchildren

To order your own set of custom prayer cards shown in the Action Step visit Memories of Home in Eden Prairie. These make a perfect gift for the grandparents in your life. Each day has a theme for prayer, a short prayer, and Scriptures to pray over grandchildren. Submit your own photo for custom printing or purchase a set that focuses on the word for the day. Comes with a wooden stand. They can be picked up at St. Peter’s or the store to save on shipping.

STPkids

Every week, our STP Kids have an opportunity to learn the same thing the grown ups are learning in the message. They participate, discover, and grow in their faith with a fun, active approach. The Lesson Activity page includes tips and guidance for you to see what they are learning - or to share it yourself at home when you can be with us in person.

As Ms Jenna finds herself more pregnant this fall we are looking to schedule leaders. Every week we provide the lesson including the Bible story, parent sheet, and active learning activities, and a prayer. Want to give it a try? Email jpitkanen@stpetersedina.org

St. Peters ECEC

Every day St. Peter’s teachers make a difference in the lives of children - which means we are also impacting families with love and faith and learning. We are searching for additional teachers to be part of our 6 week to 6-year-old teaching team. St. Peter’s Early Childhood Education Center is all about learning. This is an exciting week in our center as the older students have moved on to Kindergarten (bless them & keep them safe Lord!) and our classroom configuration will look a bit different. We are also welcoming 4 new infants tomorrow and reopening a classroom for these little friends.

Please share this link with someone with a heart for little ones:

Video Messages Links

Be sure you take in the messages each week online. Last week’s back to school message and the entire Simplify series can be found there along with several years of messages. Listen to one when you take a walk or wind down at the end of a day. Or start one up for a commute (warning - don’t watch and drive!!!) We generally see more views during the week that follows than on Sunday mornings. Maybe it is a tool that will prove useful for you.

Sunday Bible Class

Consider yourself invited! If you are desiring to have a discussion with other men and women that takes todays Bible verse and applies it to our lives, please join in.

Class begins each Sunday after worship in the Discipleship Room to the right as you leave the sanctuary. Pick up some refreshments on your way in. We have Life Application Bibles at each table. Our discussion wraps up about 11:30am

Church History 100-600 A.D.

Our Men’s Bible Study group is going back in history! And we want to invite you to join us on Friday mornings at 7:30am. An old aphorism states, “You can’t know where you are going unless you know where you have been.” The knowledge of history impacts the present and the future. Christ’s church does not escape this truth. And that history is rooted in the most dynamic moment in the history of the world: the incarnation of the Son of God. The study will run for 12 weeks beginning Friday, September 15.

The Chosen Small Group

Have you discovered The Chosen? It is the story of Christ and His Disciples in dramatic style. Witness some of the events and the signs, wonders, and messages of our Lord as seen through the eyes of the disciples. While based on the Biblical accounts, the interaction and dialogue is engaging and powerful. You will certainly be moved. We are now in Season 2. Season 3 starts soon!

Led by Tim & Elizabeth Gaudineer, this small group meets on Wednesdays at 10am at St. Peter’s in the Discipleship Room. If you have questions, call (952) 934-4213.

Ready for to grow in your Discipleship?

Have you been thinking about participating in the trip to Israel - the cut off time is approaching. Talk it up with others you know, maybe you can participate together. The deadline to sign up is September 20.

The Disciples had a front row seat to the ministry of Jesus. He taught them. He prepared them. He changed their lives. On this 10-day tour, we will begin with the calling of the disciples at the Sea of Galilee. You are invited to join Pastor Mark and Joann on a trip to Israel. We will observe locations where Jesus worked signs and wonders among the people. Then we will visit Jerusalem where Jesus would offer Himself as the full sacrifice for our sin. We will visit the garden where we are reminded of the empty tomb, then looking to the hillside, recall Jesus Ascension where He would commission His disciples.

Interested in participating but the cost causing you to think it wouldn’t be possible? One of our members has offered to pay up to half of the cost of the trip for a member to attend. Reach out to Pastor Mark if that would make a difference for your participation - or for another person you could invite.

View more details about the trip below. You may also pick up a printed copies on the Events section of the Next Steps wall.
