Greeting & Announcements
God is all about blessing us. God blesses us by sending rain. But when it rains we often feel it ruins an otherwise good day. So God gives us an umbrella. That way we can receive the blessing without grumbling… as much anyway! An umbrella can help us see God's blessings in life even when life is filled with disappointment, frustrations, hurt, pain, and sadness. God’s blessing is the peace that surpasses understanding when life doesn’t make sense - even when it rains. Got an umbrella?

Pastor: God has a plan for you.
All: I wonder what it is!
Pastor: Trouble is all around me, but you preserve my life.
All: Lord, You will do everything you have planned for me.
Pastor: Lord, your faithful love continues forever.
All: You have done so much for me, so don’t stop now. Don't abandon the work of Your hands. (Psalm 138)
Pastor: In all that is to come, our Lord will be with us in the future as He has been in the past.
All: Lord, give us faith to see Your blessings all around us. Amen.
Sparrows
The sparrow’s not worried about tomorrow
Or the troubles to come
The lily’s not thinking about the seasons
The drought or the flood
The tree that’s planted by the water
Isn’t fazed by the fire
So why should I be
'Cause You take good care of me
You take good care of me
You know what I need
Before I even ask a thing
And You hold me in Your hands
With a kindness that never ends
I’m carried in Your love
No matter what the future brings
You take good care of me
The sun’s not worried about the winter
‘Cause soon it will pass
The light’s not thinking about the darkness
Or the shadow it casts
A heart that’s planted in forgiveness
Doesn’t dwell in the past
So why should I be
'Cause You take good care of me
You take good care of me
You know what I need
Before I even ask a thing
And You hold me in Your hands
With a kindness that never ends
I’m carried in Your love
No matter what the future brings
You take good care of me
I know there must be more
But I can’t get past Your kindness
I know there’s got to be more
But I can’t get past Your goodness
I know there must be more
But I can’t get past Your kindness
I know there’s got to be more
But I can’t get past Your goodness
You take good care of me
You take good care of me
You know what I need
Before I even ask a thing
And You hold me in Your hands
With a kindness that never ends
I’m carried in Your love
No matter what the future brings
You take good care of me
Scripture Reading
Romans 8:18-39
I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God.
We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.
What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died —more than that, who was raised to life —is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Message: The Umbrella
John 16:33 - “In this world you will have trouble.”
John 16:33 - “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Job 1:10-11 - “Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land. But now stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face.”
Job 42:12 - The LORD blessed the latter part of Job’s life more than the former part.
Job 42:16-17 - After this, Job lived a hundred and forty years; he saw his children and their children to the fourth generation. And so Job died, an old man and full of years.
Romans 8:18 - I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.
Romans 8:24-25 - For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.

Romans 8:35 - Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?
Romans 8:38-39 - For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Christmas Creed
Pastor: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. (John 1:1-3)
All: I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, announced by the angels, worshipped by the shepherds and adored by the wise men; who suffered, died and rose from the dead to free me from the power of sin, death and hell.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, by whose work Christ is born within my heart, who nurtures my faith, and who empowers me to live as God’s child now and to enter into the glory of life everlasting. Amen.
Pastor: For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)
God Loved The World So That He Gave
God loved the world so that He gave
His only Son the lost to save
That all who would in Him believe
Should everlasting life receive
Christ Jesus is the ground of faith
Who was made flesh and suffered death
All then who trust in Christ alone
Are built on this chief cornerstone
God would not have the sinner die
His Son with saving grace is nigh
His Spirit in the Word declares
How we in Christ are heaven's heirs
Glory to God the Father Son
And Holy Spirit Three in One
To you O blessed Trinity
Be praise now and eternally

The Lord’s Prayer
All: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
Blessing
Philippians 4:7 - And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Yes I Will
I count on one thing
The same God that never fails
Will not fail me now
You won't fail me now
In the waiting
The same God who's never late
Is working all things out
You're working all things out
Yes I will lift You high
In the lowest valley
Yes I will bless Your name
Yes I will sing for joy
When my heart is heavy
All my days yes I will
I count on one thing
The same God that never fails
Will not fail me now
You won't fail me now
In the waiting
The same God who's never late
Is working all things out
You're working all things out
Yes I will lift You high
In the lowest valley
Yes I will bless Your name
Yes I will sing for joy
When my heart is heavy
All my days yes I will
For all my days yes I will
I choose to praise
To glorify glorify
The name of all names
That nothing can stand against
I choose to praise
To glorify glorify
The name of all names
That nothing can stand against
I choose to praise
To glorify glorify
The name of all names
That nothing can stand against
I choose to praise
To glorify glorify
The name of all names
That nothing can stand against
Yes I will lift You high
In the lowest valley
Yes I will bless Your name
Yes I will sing for joy
When my heart is heavy
All my days yes I will
For all my days yes I will
For all my days yes I will
