Today's Word to Live By is POWER.
Sometimes a way to discover the impact of a word is to look at the opposite - that would be powerless. Do you sometimes feel powerless? We all do at times. That is when we discover just how much we need to find power. It is important to know that God is all-powerful. God could use His power for anything, and what does He choose to do? To use His power to help you, to come alongside of you - just when you feel the most powerless.

Scripture Reading
Luke 4:14-15 Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside. He was teaching in their synagogues, and everyone praised him.

STP Kids is the Children’s Ministry at St. Peter’s Edina, designed for all children from 6 months to 10 years old (Grade 5). Our vision is to partner with parents in raising up a generation of children that will seek their God-given Kingdom mission and impact their world for Jesus!
Message: Power
Luke 3:21-22 When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as he was praying, heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.”
Luke 4:1-2 Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, where for forty days he was tempted by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was hungry.
Luke 4:3-13 The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread.” Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone.’” The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. And he said to him, “I will give you all their authority and splendor; it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. If you worship me, it will all be yours.” Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’” The devil led him to Jerusalem and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down from here. For it is written: “‘He will command his angels concerning you to guard you carefully; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’” Jesus answered, “It is said: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’” When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left him until an opportune time.

Luke 5:17 One day Jesus was teaching, and Pharisees and teachers of the law were sitting there. They had come from every village of Galilee and from Judea and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was with Jesus to heal the sick.
Luke 6:19 And the people all tried to touch him, because power was coming from him and healing them all.
Luke 21:27 At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
Prayer
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer Requests
“Power” Rejoice that God’s greatest use of His power is to save.
Pray circles around the Church. When God’s people come together in the Spirit, we are unstoppable. God gifts and empowers each one of us. Rejoice in the way you are blessed by the Church. Ask God to show you what He will do through you as a member.
Pray for Jen Wheeler (our organist / pianist) who is recovering from hip surgery. We look forward to her return to accompany our singing in worship in the next months.
Flowers
Flowers in the sanctuary are presented to the glory of God in memory of Don Bierbaum. We celebrated Don’s life and faith yesterday. May the Lord continue to comfort Eileen, Jodi, and the family and friends of the Bierbaums.
