Greeting
For Christians the mountain is a place of pivotal moments in Jesus’ ministry and teaching. On a mountain, the Son of God taught. On a mountain, the Son of God was sacrificed. Perhaps the sermon on the mount is one of the most meaningful mountains in the Bible. Come up on the mountain... where life is good.
Invitation to The Mountain
Leader: Blessed are those who trust - in God!
All: We come to the mountain in trust, to be grounded in God's love.
Leader: Blessed are those who hope - in God!
All: We come to the mountain in hope, trusting in the One who gives us life.
Leader: Blessed are those who delight - in God's Word!
All: We come to the mountain to hear God speak, seeking healing and joy.
Holy Spirit
There's nothing worth more
That will ever come close
No thing can compare
You're our living hope
Your Presence Lord
I've tasted and seen
Of the sweetest of loves
Where my heart becomes free
And my shame is undone
Your Presence Lord
Holy Spirit You are welcome here
Come flood this place and fill the atmosphere
Your glory God is what our hearts long for
To be overcome by Your Presence Lord
Your Presence Lord
There's nothing worth more
That will ever come close
No thing can compare
You're our living hope
Your Presence Lord
I've tasted and seen
Of the sweetest of loves
Where my heart becomes free
And my shame is undone
Your Presence Lord
Holy Spirit You are welcome here
Come flood this place and fill the atmosphere
Your glory God is what our hearts long for
To be overcome by Your Presence Lord
Your Presence Lord
Let us become more aware of Your Presence
Let us experience the glory of Your goodness
Let us become more aware of Your Presence
Let us experience the glory of Your goodness
Let us become more aware of Your Presence
Let us experience the glory of Your goodness

Video Message: Sermon on the Mount
Matthew 5:1-2 - Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, and he began to teach them.
Scripture Readings
Matthew 5:3-12 (Jesus Teaches About Happiness) - “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”
Matthew 5:43-48 (Jesus Teaches About Loving Your Enemies) - “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.”
Matthew 6:1-4 (Jesus Teaches About Giving) - “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. “So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”
Matthew 6:19-21 (Jesus Teaches About Money) - “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
Matthew 6:25-27 (Jesus Teaches About Worry) - “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?”
Matthew 7:7-8 (Jesus Teaches About Asking, Seeking, Knocking) - “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”
Matthew 7:13-14 (Jesus Teaches About The Way to Heaven) - “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”
Video Message - The Good Life
Matthew 7:28-29 - When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law.
Jesus We Love You
Old things have passed away
Your love has stayed the same
Your constant grace
Remains the cornerstone
Things that we thought were dead
Are breathing in life again
You cause your Son to
Shine on darkest nights
For all that You've done
We will pour out our love
This will be our anthem song
Jesus we love You
Oh how we love You
You are the one our hearts adore
The hopeless have found their hope
The orphans now have a home
All that was lost has
Found its place in You
You lift our weary head
You make us strong instead
You took these rags and
Made us beautiful
For all that You've done
We will pour out our love
This will be our anthem song
Jesus we love You
Oh how we love You
You are the one our hearts adore
Jesus we love You
Oh how we love You
You are the one our hearts adore
Our hearts adore
Our hearts adore
Our hearts adore
Scripture Reading
Matthew 6:7-9 (Jesus Teaches About Prayer) - And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. “This, then, is how you should pray:”
The Lord’s Prayer
All: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
Scripture Reading
Matthew 6:14-15 (Jesus Teaches About Forgiveness) - “For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.”
Confession & Forgiveness
Leader: Let us confess our sins to God our Father.
All: Most merciful God, we confess that we are by nature sinful and unclean. We have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We justly deserve your present and eternal punishment. For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways to the glory of your holy name. Amen
Leader: In the mercy of almighty God, Jesus Christ was given to die for us, and for his sake God forgives us all our sins. To those who believe in Jesus Christ he gives the power to become the children of God and bestows on them the Holy Spirit. May the Lord, who has begun this good work in us, bring it to completion in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Communion
The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod holds the Biblical teaching that in Communion we receive the true body and blood of Jesus Christ with the bread and wine for the forgiveness of sins. If you are a baptized Christian who has been instructed in the Biblical teaching of the real presence of the Christ in this meal and grace through faith in Christ, and if you agree with our confession of faith, please join with the fellowship of disciples in Holy Communion.
“Everyone should examine themselves first, and then eat the bread and drink of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgment on himself.” (1 Corinthians 11:28-29)
Blessing
Isaiah 52:7 - How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation
