Greeting
Mountains are often associated with closeness to God. God had appeared to both Moses & Elijah on mountains. That day, three disciples were singled out for a special revelation. There was a lot that Jesus had told them that they didn't understand. Jesus invited them up the mountain where they saw something they didn't expect that day. Is God inviting you up on the mountain today? Maybe He is pulling you out of confusion, loneliness, sickness, fear, frustration, despair. God meets you there. Come see His glory - and you will surely worship Him there!
Invitation to The Mountain
Pastor: Come, Most Holy God, as we gather in this place.
All: Come, God of Majesty and Might, meet us at the mountain.
Pastor: Come, God of all Grace, into our hearts and lives.
All: Come, Loving Savior, invite us to Yourself, that we may see Your glory.
Pastor: Come, Eternal Father, shelter us, hold us, touch us, reveal to us Your glory through Your Son, with Whom You are well pleased.
All: Let us see His Glory - Glory as of the Only Begotten Son of the Father.
Pastor: Come, Holy Spirit, help us to worship so we may behold His glory forever and ever.

Worship at the Mountain
Pastor: Exalt the Lord our God and worship at His holy mountain.
All: For the Lord our God is Holy!
Reader: When Moses went up on the mountain, and the cloud covered it, the glory of the Lord settled on Mount Sinai. Moses entered the cloud as he went up on the mountain. And he stayed on the mountain forty days and forty nights. (Exodus 24:15-18)

Reader: Jesus took with Him Peter, James, and John the brother of James, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. There He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His garments became white as light. And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus. A bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, "This is My beloved Son, with Whom I am well pleased. Listen to Him!" (Matthew 17:1-3,5)

STP KIDS Dismissal
STP KIDS is the Children’s Ministry at St. Peter’s Edina, designed for all children from 6 months to 10 years old (Grade 5). Older children are welcome to participate as helpers. Our vision is to partner with parents in raising up a generation of children that will seek their God-given Kingdom mission and impact their world for Jesus!

Matthew 17:1-3 - After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James and John the brother of James, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. There he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light. Just then there appeared before them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus.
Matthew 17:4-6 - Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish, I will put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.” While he was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!” When the disciples heard this, they fell facedown to the ground, terrified.
Matthew 17:7-9 - But Jesus came and touched them. “Get up,” he said. “Don’t be afraid.” When they looked up, they saw no one except Jesus. As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus instructed them, “Don’t tell anyone what you have seen, until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead.”

Apostles Creed
All: I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate. Was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell.
