Greeting

This is a season of opportunity. God’s not done yet. We are the Church of the future. In the power of the Holy Spirit we have confidence. Your move!

Pentecost Creed

All: I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Pastor: What does this mean?

All: I believe that I cannot by my own reason or strength believe in Jesus Christ, my Lord, or come to Him; but the Holy Spirit has called me by the Gospel, enlightened me with His gifts, sanctified and kept me in the true faith.

Pastor: In the same way He calls, gathers, enlightens, and sanctifies the whole Christian Church on earth, and keeps it with Jesus Christ in the one true faith.

All: In this Christian Church He daily and richly forgives all my sins and the sins of all believers. On the Last Day He will raise me and all the dead, and give eternal life to me and all believers in Christ. This is most certainly true.

Spirit Move

I feel it in my bones You're about to move
I feel it in the wind You're about to ride in
You said that You would pour Your Spirit out
You said that You would fall on sons and daughters

I feel it in my bones You're about to move
I feel it in the wind You're about to ride in
You said that You would pour Your Spirit out
You said that You would fall on sons and daughters

So like the rain come drench us in love
And let Your glory rush in like a flood

We are fixed on this one thing
To know Your goodness and see Your glory
We're transformed by this one thing
To know Your presence and see Your beauty

I can see it now Your kingdom come
I can hear it now the sounds of Heaven
You said that if we ask we'll receive
We are asking for the greater measure

So like the rain come drench us in love
And let Your power rush in like a flood

We are fixed on this one thing
To know Your goodness and see Your glory
We're transformed by this one thing
To know Your presence and see Your beauty

So come and blow on through
Spirit move we're ready for You
To come and blow on through
Come and do what only you can do
So come and blow on through
Spirit move we're ready for You
To come and blow on through
Come and do what only you can do

We are fixed on this one thing
To know Your goodness and see Your glory
We're transformed by this one thing
To know Your presence and see Your beauty
We are fixed on this one thing
To know Your goodness and see Your glory
We're transformed by this one thing
To know Your presence and see Your beauty

Scripture Reading

Acts 2:1-12 - When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken. Utterly amazed, they asked: “Aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans? Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language? Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome (both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs—we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!” Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, “What does this mean?”

STP Kids Dismissal

STP Kids is the Children’s Ministry at St. Peter’s Edina, designed for all children from 6 months to 10 years old (Grade 5). Older children are welcome to participate as helpers. Our vision is to partner with parents in raising up a generation of children that will seek their God-given Kingdom mission and impact their world for Jesus!

Message: Your Move

Acts 2:6-8, 11-12 - When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken. Utterly amazed, they asked: “Aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans? Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language?…we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!” Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, “What does this mean?”

“The Good News kept on spreading…and the number of disciples continued to increase.”

Zechariah 4:8 - Then the word of the Lord came to me: “The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this temple; his hands will also complete it. Then you will know that the Lord Almighty has sent me to you.

Matthew 28:20 - “I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

“The Good News kept on spreading… and the number of disciples continued to increase.

Spread the Reign of God the Lord (LW 321)

Spread the reign of God the Lord
Spoken written mighty Word
Everywhere His creatures call
To His heavenly banquet hall

Tell how God the Fathers will
Made the world upholds it still
How His own dear Son he gave
Us from sin and death to save

Tell of our Redeemers grace
Who to save our human race
And to pay rebellions price
Gave Himself as sacrifice

Tell of God the Spirit given
Now to guide us on to heaven
Strong and holy just and true
Working both to will and do

Enter mighty Word the field
Ripe the promise of its yield
But the reapers oh how few
For the work there is to do

Lord of harvest great and kind
Rouse to action heart and mind
Let the gathering nations all
See Your light and heed Your call

Prayer

Confession and Forgiveness

Pastor: Jesus said, "When the Spirit comes, He will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment." (John 16:8)

All:  The Spirit has cut us to the heart. What shall we do? (Acts 2:37)

Pastor: Repent and receive the promise of forgiveness in the name of Jesus. (Acts 2:38)

All: O Lord, listen to our cry for mercy. (Psalm 143:1)

Pastor: God recognized our need to be forgiven, and sent His Son Jesus Christ to suffer and die for our sins. When Jesus ascended, He poured out the Holy Spirit upon us. In the joy and power of God’s forgiveness, we are Gospel witnesses to the ends of the earth.

Communion

The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod holds the Biblical teaching that in Communion we receive the true body and blood of Jesus Christ with the bread and wine for the forgiveness of sins. If you are a baptized Christian who has been instructed in the Biblical teaching of the real presence of the Christ in this meal and grace through faith in Christ, and if you agree with our confession of faith, please join with the fellowship of disciples in Holy Communion.

“Everyone should examine themselves first, and then eat the bread and drink of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgment on himself.” (1 Corinthians 11:28-29)

The Lord’s Prayer

All: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

Blessing

Acts 11:21 - The Lord’s hand was with them, and a great number of people believed and turned to the Lord.

Not Done Yet

God of the promise
God of the future
You see beginning and end
God of the rescue
God of the breakthrough
How great is Your faithfulness
You're not done yet

No eye has ever seen
No ear has ever heard
No one could ever comprehend
Your word will be enough
Your promise we will trust
Greater things are still ahead

You're not done yet
You're not done yet

God in my seeking
God in my dreaming
You put a song in my soul
God in the working
God I'm believing
You'll do the impossible
You're not done yet

No eye has ever seen
No ear has ever heard
No one could ever comprehend
Your word will be enough
Your promise we will trust
Greater things are still ahead

You're not done yet
You're not done yet
You're not done yet
You're not done yet

You're up to something right now
You're doing a new thing right now
God let Your glory come down
Don't hold back
Don't hold back
You're up to something right now
You're doing a new thing right now
God let Your glory come down
Don't hold back
Don't hold back
You're moving mountains right now
You're breaking chains right now
God let Your glory come down
Don't hold back
Don't hold back

No eye has ever seen
No ear has ever heard
No one could ever comprehend
Your word will be enough
Your promise we will trust
Greater things are still ahead

You're not done yet
You're not done yet
You're not done yet
Greater things are still ahead
You're not done yet
