Don’t Waste Your Summer - Finding Quiet
This summer, we want to invite you to practice being quiet. Be a listener. Be an observer. Be the one that others enjoy being around because they sense a gentle, kind soul. Let the peace that passes all understanding that you have in Jesus quiet you – so that it is evident to all around you! Practice time to be quiet in God’s presence. I promise you, it will change your summer – and maybe even your life!

Statement of Faith
All: I believe that the God of majesty and might has come into our midst. The Heavenly Father, strong to save, has created us, loved us, and revealed His glory to us through His Son.
I believe that Jesus Christ is the strong and gentle Son of God, who entered into death upon the cross and offers to us salvation through the empty tomb. He assures us that He has faced temptation without sin, but willingly took our sin upon Himself along with its punishment. He came to be our Savior! He came as the Prince of Peace.
I believe that the Holy Spirit speaks the Word of truth and sounds to each of us the call to faith. He gently leads us through life. He works in us and through us, that the Savior of the universe might be seen in us and that we might confess the name of Jesus forever and ever!

Scripture Reading
Philippians 4:4-7 - Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
STP KIDS Dismissal
STP KIDS is the Children’s Ministry at St. Peter’s Edina, designed for all children from 6 months to 10 years old (Grade 5). Older children are welcome to participate as helpers. Our vision is to partner with parents in raising up a generation of children that will seek their God-given Kingdom mission and impact their world for Jesus!

1 Thessalonians 4:11-12 - Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.
Matthew 11:28-30 (MSG) - “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Prayer

Confession and Forgiveness
All: Lord, I often listen to voices all around me and find myself upset. I do so much talking that I even stop thinking. My sins are many. I invite you to quiet my soul.
Pastor: In God’s infinite wisdom He knew we could never stand before Him quietly and free from sin. Yet He loved us enough to redeem us in Christ. In Christ we are washed clean of our sins and found righteous before God. Lord, Help us to spend time this summer being calm, gentle, observant, and find rest in You. Lord, fill me with Your peace so that I may share my quiet with others day after day. Amen.
Communion
The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod holds the Biblical teaching that in Communion we receive the true body and blood of Jesus Christ with the bread and wine for the forgiveness of sins. If you are a baptized Christian who has been instructed in the Biblical teaching of the real presence of the Christ in this meal and grace through faith in Christ, and if you agree with our confession of faith, please join with the fellowship of disciples in Holy Communion.
“Everyone should examine themselves first, and then eat the bread and drink of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgment on himself.” (1 Corinthians 11:28-29)
The Lord’s Prayer
All: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
