Don’t Waste Your Summer - Surprise The World

How would your life change if you began inviting others to be guests at your table? Not your family, but others. Jesus encourages you to invite the person who may be lonely - individuals who are struggling in life. Don’t worry about impressing them - just make them feel that they matter. Make them feel they belong. Surprise the world!

Greeting & Announcements

Surprise The World

Leader: We were created to be in community. People around us are hungry for connection and a place to belong. Today, Jesus asks you to welcome others to your table. Seek out the forgotten, the broken hearted, the young, the old, the difficult ones. Invite the unemployed, the messy, the broken ones. Go out of your way to welcome the grieving, the depressed, the hopeless. Surprise the world!

All: I know it is important to stop, connect, and have real conversations with others. I want to open my home and life to others but I haven’t done a good job of it. Life keeps me running in a thousand directions. I tend to be self-centered. I am most concerned about myself, not those around me. Lord I ask your forgiveness and desire a change of heart. Fill me with sensitivity toward others.

Leader: God loves all of us, each and every one. He surprises us with the love of the King of Kings. In order to get a glimpse of what that kind of majestic love looks and feels like, Jesus connects with you. We don’t deserve an invitation, and are not worthy to come into His heavenly home, but you and I have been invited! Having experienced His forgiveness, offer it freely to others. Spread a table with abundant love – welcome others in Jesus name!

Build Your Kingdom Here

Come set Your rule and reign
In our hearts again
Increase in us we pray
Unveil why we're made
Come set our hearts ablaze with hope
Like wildfire in our very souls
Holy Spirit come invade us now
We are Your church
We need Your power in us

We seek Your kingdom first
We hunger and we thirst
Refuse to waste our lives
For You're our joy and prize
To see the captives' hearts released
The hurt the sick the poor at peace
We lay down our lives
For heaven's cause
We are Your church
We pray revive this earth

Build Your kingdom here
Let the darkness fear
Show Your mighty hand
Heal our streets and land
Set Your church on fire
Win this nation back
Change the atmosphere
Build Your kingdom here we pray

Unleash Your kingdom's power
Reaching the near and far
No force of hell can stop
Your beauty changing hearts
You made us for much more than this
Awake the kingdom seed in us
Fill us with the strength and love of Christ
We are Your church
We are the hope on earth

Build Your kingdom here
Let the darkness fear
Show Your mighty hand
Heal our streets and land
Set Your church on fire
Win this nation back
Change the atmosphere
Build Your kingdom here we pray

Scripture Reading

Ephesians 1:15-23 - For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God’s people, I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.

Prayer

O God, for another day, for another morning, for another hour, for another minute, for another chance to live and serve you, I am truly grateful.
Do, this day, free me…
from all fear of the future,
from all anxiety about tomorrow,
from all bitterness toward any one,
from all cowardice in face of danger,
from all laziness in the face of work,
from all failure before opportunity,
from all weakness when Your power is at hand.
But fill me…
with Love that knows no barrier,
with Sympathy that reaches to all,
with Courage that cannot be shaken,
with Faith strong enough for the darkness,
with Strength sufficient for my tasks,
with Loyalty to Your Kingdom’s goal,
with Wisdom to meet life’s complexities,
with Power to lift me to You.
Be with me for another day, and use me as you will.
For Christ’s sake, I pray. Amen.

If you are in need of prayer, we would love the opportunity to pray with you! You can post a prayer on our online prayer wall, or submit a private prayer to our prayer team.

Lord of All Nations Grant Me Grace

Lord of all nations grant me grace
To love all people every race
And in each person may I see
My kindred loved redeemed by Thee

Break down the wall that would divide
Thy children Lord on every side
My neighbors good let me pursue
Let Christian love bind warm and true

Forgive me Lord where I have erred
By loveless act and thoughtless word
Make me to see the wrong I do
Will grieve my wounded Lord anew

Give me Thy courage Lord to speak
Whenever strong oppress the weak
Should I myself the victim be
Help me forgive remembering Thee

With Thine own love may I be filled
And by Thy Holy Spirit willed
That all I touch where'er I be
May be divinely touched by Thee

The Lord’s Prayer

All: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

Blessing

Ephesians 4:32 - Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

The Commission

See my hands look at my feet
It’s okay if it’s hard to believe
I have faith you will do greater things
It’s my time to go but before I leave

Go tell the world about me
I was dead but now I live
I’ve gotta go now for a little while
But goodbye is not the end

Don’t forget the things that I taught you
I conquered death and I hold the keys
Where I go you will go too someday
But there’s much to do here before you leave

Go tell the world about me
I was dead but now I live
I’ve gotta go now for a little while
But goodbye is not the end

End of the journey the end of the road
My spirit is with you wherever you go
You have a purpose and I have a plan
I’ll make you this promise
I’ll come back again but until then

Go tell the world about me
For I was dead but now I live
I’ve gotta go now for a little while
But goodbye is not the end
Go tell the world about me
For I was dead but now I live
I’ve gotta go now for a little while
But goodbye is not the end
