Greeting and Announcements

Invocation and Prayer

Leader: Lord, in Your mercy,

All: Hear our prayer.

Leader: Let Your love have its way with us, Lord. Lead us to expect no self-interested reward, but to love our enemies and serve those in need. Put an end to bitterness and strife. Let forgiveness reign between each of us, even as Christ’s blood covers our sins before Your heavenly throne.

All: Amen

Our God Has Made Us One

Our God has made us one
In Him our hearts unite
When we His children share His love
Our joy is His delight

Our God has made us one
His glory is displayed
For as we build each other up
Our love becomes praise

Our God has made us one
In sorrow and in joy
We share the cross of Christ our Lord
In Him we now rejoice

Our God has made us one
One church to bear His name
One body and one Bride of Christ
And with Him we shall reign

Scripture Reading

Ephesians 4:29-32 - Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Message: The First Step

What is the first step of simplify? Forgiveness.

Colossians 3:13 - Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

Luke 23:34 - “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”

Action Step

Confession & Forgiveness

Leader: Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.  (Psalm 32:1)

All: Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord does not count against them and in whose spirit is no deceit. (Psalm 32:2)

Leader: When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. For day and night Your hand was heavy on me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer. (Psalm 32:3-4)

All: Then I acknowledged my sin to You and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.” And You forgave the guilt of my sin.  (Psalm 32:5)

Leader: Psalm 32 brings comfort. Having confessed our sin to the Lord, God gives us a tremendous gift: the freedom of forgiveness. And when someone else wrongs us, remember that gift we receive from Christ and strive to forgive them in return. Come to the Altar!

O Come to the Altar

Are you hurting and broken within
Overwhelmed by the weight of your sin
Jesus is calling
Have you come to the end of yourself
Do you thirst for a drink from the well
Jesus is calling

O come to the altar
The Father's arms are open wide
Forgiveness was bought with
The precious blood of Jesus Christ

Leave behind your regrets and mistakes
Come today there's no reason to wait
Jesus is calling
Bring your sorrows and trade them for joy
From the ashes a new life is born
Jesus is calling

O come to the altar
The Father's arms are open wide
Forgiveness was bought with
The precious blood

Oh what a Savior
Isn't he wonderful
Sing alleluia Christ is risen
Bow down before him
For he is Lord of all
Sing alleluia Christ is risen

O come to the altar
The Father's arms are open wide
Forgiveness was bought with
The precious blood of Jesus Christ
O come to the altar
The Father's arms are open wide
Forgiveness was bought with
The precious blood of Jesus Christ

Bear your cross as you wait for the crown
Tell the world of the treasure you've found

Communion

The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod holds the Biblical teaching that in Communion we receive the true body and blood of Jesus Christ with the bread and wine for the forgiveness of sins. If you are a baptized Christian who has been instructed in the Biblical teaching of the real presence of the Christ in this meal and grace through faith in Christ, and if you agree with our confession of faith, please join with the fellowship of disciples in Holy Communion.

“Everyone should examine themselves first, and then eat the bread and drink of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgment on himself.” (1 Corinthians 11:28-29)

The Lord’s Prayer

All: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer (It’s Yours)

Father let your kingdom come
Father let your will be done
On Earth as in Heaven
Right here in my heart
Father let your kingdom come
Father let your will be done
On Earth as in Heaven
Right here in my heart

Give us this day our daily bread
Forgive us forgive us
As we forgive the ones who sinned
Against us forgive them
And lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from the evil one
Let your kingdom come

Father let your kingdom come
Father let your will be done
On Earth as in Heaven
Right here in my heart
Father let your kingdom come
Father let your will be done
On Earth as in Heaven
Right here in my heart

Give us this day our daily bread
Forgive us forgive us
As we forgive the ones who sinned
Against us forgive them
And lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from the evil one
Let your kingdom come
