Greeting and Announcements

We all have it - something you we hold on to just in case you ever need it. A constant reminder that you may have too much stuff. And it can be overwhelming. If you are seeking to simplify, a starting place is learning from the Bible about contentment.


Confession & Forgiveness

Pastor: “The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it;”

All: Most merciful God, it all belongs to You, but I live like it is all mine. I confess that I have been wasteful in big and small ways with what You have so graciously given to me to support our body and life. Forgive me, I pray, for the times I have lived for the here and now, rather than with eternity in mind; I have stored up treasures on earth neglecting the treasures of heaven; I have spent money frivolously on what I think is important in the moment.

Pastor: My friends, everything we are and everything we own belongs to God.  He meets all our needs, in every way. Trust in His provision. Through Jesus’ great sacrifice, we have been forgiven us for our selfishness. In response, we are called to live as managers:
… of all of God’s creation
… of our homes and families
… of our money and lifestyle
… of our bodies and minds
… and the expansion of the Kingdom of God.

Scripture Reading

Philippians 4:10-20 - I rejoiced greatly in the Lord that at last you renewed your concern for me. Indeed, you were concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it. I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength. Yet it was good of you to share in my troubles. Moreover, as you Philippians know, in the early days of your acquaintance with the gospel, when I set out from Macedonia, not one church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving, except you only; for even when I was in Thessalonica, you sent me aid more than once when I was in need. Not that I desire your gifts; what I desire is that more be credited to your account. I have received full payment and have more than enough. I am amply supplied, now that I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent. They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God. And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. To our God and Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.


STP Kids Dismissal

STP Kids is the Children’s Ministry at St. Peter’s Edina, designed for all children from 6 months to 10 years old (Grade 5). Older children are welcome to participate as helpers. Our vision is to partner with parents in raising up a generation of children that will seek their God-given Kingdom mission and impact their world for Jesus!


Message: Stuff

Philippians 4:11-13 - I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.

All I have comes from God

James 1:17 - Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father

Philippians 4:13 - I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.
