Greeting

What do you think of when you see a sunset? When you see clouds? Psalm 19:1. “The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship.” Watch for the signs.

Psalm 19

Scripture Reading

Luke 21:25-33 - “There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. People will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken. At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.” He told them this parable: “Look at the fig tree and all the trees. When they sprout leaves, you can see for yourselves and know that summer is near. Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that the kingdom of God is near. “Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

So Will I (100 Billion X)

God of creation
There at the start
Before the beginning of time
With no point of reference
You spoke to the dark
And fleshed out the wonder of light

And as You speak
A hundred billion galaxies are born
In the vapor of Your breath the planets form
If the stars were made to worship so will I

God of Your promise
You don't speak in vain
No syllable empty or void
For once You have spoken
All nature and science
Follow the sound of Your voice

And as You speak
A hundred billion creatures catch Your breath
Evolving in pursuit of what You said
If it all reveals Your nature so will I

If the stars were made to worship so will I
If the mountains bow in reverence so will I
If the oceans roar Your greatness so will I
For if everything exists to lift You high so will I
If the wind goes where You send it so will I
If the rocks cry out in silence so will I
If the sum of all our praises still falls shy
Then we'll sing again a hundred billion times

God of salvation
You chased down my heart
Through all of my failure and pride
On a hill You created
The light of the world
Abandoned in darkness to die

And as You speak
A hundred billion failures disappear
Where You lost Your life
So I could find it here
If You left the grave behind You so will I
I can see Your heart
In everything You've done
Every part designed in a work of art called love
If You gladly chose surrender so will I
I can see Your heart
Eight billion different ways
Every precious one a child You died to save
If You gave Your life to love them so will I

Like You would again
A hundred billion times
But what measure
Could amount to Your desire
You're the One who never
Leaves the one behind

Prayer

Confession and Absolution

Pastor: Brothers and sisters, do you confess that you have sinned against God and against one another in your thoughts, words, and actions?

People:  Yes, I confess that I am sinful from birth, and that I have sinned against God and my brothers and sisters.

Pastor: Do you desire to be forgiven by God, and to receive the power of His Spirit to change your sinful ways?

People: Yes, I humbly ask God to forgive all my sins, and I ask for the Spirit to strengthen me to turn away from sin and to live for God’s glory.

Pastor: Do you believe that God, your merciful Father, for the sake of Jesus Christ, will forgive your sins?

People: Yes, I believe that Jesus Christ, God’s Son, has died and been raised to life again so that my sins will be forgiven.  I trust in Him alone for my forgiveness, life, and salvation.

Pastor: Do you believe that our Lord Jesus Christ Himself comes to us in this Sacrament and gives us His true body and blood in, with, and under the bread and wine, for the forgiveness of our sins and the strengthening of our faith?

People:  Yes, I believe that my Lord Himself comes to me with His body and blood, and that I have full forgiveness in Him.

Pastor: Then may it be for you as you have confessed.  In the name and at the command of our Lord Jesus Christ, I, as your called and ordained pastor, announce the grace of God to you, and at His bidding I forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.  Come and receive His gifts to you—forgiveness, life, and salvation.

Communion

The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod holds the Biblical teaching that in Communion we receive the true body and blood of Jesus Christ with the bread and wine for the forgiveness of sins. If you are a baptized Christian who has been instructed in the Biblical teaching of the real presence of the Christ in this meal and grace through faith in Christ, and if you agree with our confession of faith, please join with the fellowship of disciples in Holy Communion.

“Everyone should examine themselves first, and then eat the bread and drink of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgment on himself.” (1 Corinthians 11:28-29)

The Lord’s Prayer

People: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

Blessing

John 14:1,3 - “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me…And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”

Lion and The Lamb

He's coming on the clouds
Kings and kingdoms will bow down
And every chain will break
As broken hearts declare His praise
For who can stop the Lord Almighty

Our God is the Lion
The Lion of Judah
He's roaring with power
And fighting our battles
And every knee will bow before Him
Our God is the Lamb
The Lamb that was slain
For the sins of the world
His blood breaks the chains
And every knee will bow before
The Lion and the Lamb
Every knee will bow before Him

So open up the gates
Make way before the King of kings
The God who comes to save
Is here to set the captives free
For who can stop the Lord Almighty

Our God is the Lion
The Lion of Judah
He's roaring with power
And fighting our battles
And every knee will bow before Him
Our God is the Lamb
The Lamb that was slain
For the sins of the world
His blood breaks the chains
And every knee will bow before
The Lion and the Lamb
Every knee will bow before Him

Who can stop the Lord Almighty
Who can stop the Lord Almighty
Who can stop the Lord Almighty
Who can stop the Lord Almighty
Who can stop the Lord Almighty
Who can stop the Lord Almighty
Who can stop the Lord Almighty
Who can stop the Lord

Our God is the Lion
The Lion of Judah
He's roaring with power
And fighting our battles
And every knee will bow before Him
Our God is the Lamb
The Lamb that was slain
For the sins of the world
His blood breaks the chains
And every knee will bow before
The Lion and the Lamb
Every knee will bow before Him
