Greeting

Today's Word to Live By: WORSHIP

Worship in the Bible is reflected in the faces of the worshippers. “Those who look to him are radiant." Psalm 34:5.  If someone looked at you, could they tell you had been in worship?

Call to Worship

Pastor: Ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name.

People: Worship the Lord in the splendor of His holiness.

Pastor: My mouth is filled with Your praise, declaring Your splendor all day long.

People: Splendor and majesty are before Him; strength and glory are in His sanctuary.

Pastor: Praise the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, You are very great; You are clothed with splendor and majesty.

People: Sing the glory of His name; make His praise glorious!

Pastor: Glorious are You, O Lord. At Your Word all creation came into being. You rule over all the earth; honor and majesty belong to You. We praise You for having sent Your only- begotten Son into the world. Yet He revealed Himself, not in splendor and might, but humble and lowly, in the form of a servant. Before He humbled Himself unto death, You allowed Your servants a glimpse of His glory. We stand in awe along with Peter, James, and John. We anticipate the day when “at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” We worship You, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Scripture Reading

Psalm 34:1-11 - I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. I will glory in the Lord; let the afflicted hear and rejoice. Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together. I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame. This poor man called, and the Lord heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them. Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him. Fear the Lord, you his holy people, for those who fear him lack nothing. The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing. Come, my children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord.

Ever Be

Your love is devoted
Like a ring of solid gold
Like a vow that is tested
Like a covenant of old
Your love is enduring
Through the winter rain
And beyond the horizon
With mercy for today

Faithful You have been
And faithful You will be
You pledge Yourself to me
And it’s why I sing

Your praise will ever be on my lips
Ever be on my lips
Your praise will ever be on my lips
Ever be on my lips
Your praise will ever be on my lips
Ever be on my lips
Your praise will ever be on my lips
Ever be on my lips

You Father the orphan
Your kindness makes us whole
You shoulder our weakness
And Your strength becomes our own
You’re making me like You
Clothing me in white
Bringing beauty from ashes
For You will have Your bride

Free of all her guilt
And rid of all her shame
And known by her true name
And it’s why I sing

Your praise will ever be on my lips
Ever be on my lips
Your praise will ever be on my lips
Ever be on my lips
Your praise will ever be on my lips
Ever be on my lips
Your praise will ever be on my lips
Ever be on my lips

You will be praised
You will be praised
With angels and saints
We sing worthy are You Lord
You will be praised
You will be praised
With angels and saints
We sing worthy are You Lord
You will be praised
You will be praised
With angels and saints
We sing worthy are You Lord
You will be praised
You will be praised
With angels and saints
We sing worthy are You Lord

And it's why I sing

Your praise will ever be on my lips
Ever be on my lips
Your praise will ever be on my lips
Ever be on my lips
Your praise will ever be on my lips
Ever be on my lips
Your praise will ever be on my lips
Ever be on my lips

Message: Worship

Psalm 34:1-5 - I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. I will glory in the Lord; let the afflicted hear and rejoice. Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together. I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.

Psalm 34:5 - Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.

The purpose of worship is to change the face of the worshiper

Luke 9:28-29 - Jesus…took Peter, John and James with him and went up onto a mountain to pray. As he was praying, the appearance of his face changed

2 Corinthians 3:18 - And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

Psalm 34:5 - Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.

Matthew 27:51 - And behold, the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom

Hebrews 10:19-20 - Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body

Psalm 34:1,3,5 - I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together. Those who look to him are radiant

Prayer

Words of Mercy & Praise

Pastor: Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your unfailing love. (Psalm 51:1)

People: Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me, for in You my soul takes refuge. (Psalm 57:1)

Pastor: Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I call to You all day long. (Psalm 86:3)

People: Lord, when I come face to face with You Lord, You never turn me away. You show me mercy. You accept me. You are my God. I will worship You all my days!

Communion

The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod holds the Biblical teaching that in Communion we receive the true body and blood of Jesus Christ with the bread and wine for the forgiveness of sins. If you are a baptized Christian who has been instructed in the Biblical teaching of the real presence of the Christ in this meal and grace through faith in Christ, and if you agree with our confession of faith, please join with the fellowship of disciples in Holy Communion.

“Everyone should examine themselves first, and then eat the bread and drink of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgment on himself.” (1 Corinthians 11:28-29)

The Lord’s Prayer

People: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

Blessing

Numbers 6:24-26 - “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”

Here I Am To Worship

Light of the world
You stepped down into darkness
Opened my eyes let me see
Beauty that made
This heart adore You
Hope of a life spent with You

Here I am to worship
Here I am to bow down
Here I am to say that
You're my God
You're altogether lovely
Altogether worthy
Altogether wonderful to me

King of all days
Oh so highly exalted
Glorious in heaven above
Humbly You came
To the earth You created
All for love's sake became poor

Here I am to worship
Here I am to bow down
Here I am to say that
You're my God
You're altogether lovely
Altogether worthy
Altogether wonderful to me

I'll never know how much it cost
To see my sin upon that cross
I'll never know how much it cost
To see my sin upon that cross
I'll never know how much it cost
To see my sin upon that cross
I'll never know how much it cost
To see my sin upon that cross

Here I am to worship
Here I am to bow down
Here I am to say that
You're my God
You're altogether lovely
Altogether worthy
Altogether wonderful to me
Here I am to worship
Here I am to bow down
Here I am to say that
You're my God
You're altogether lovely
Altogether worthy
Altogether wonderful to me
