Home - Where Contentment Begins
Do you like your home? Are you content? Much of our outlook on life begins in our homes. That is where we wake up to face another day. That is where we retreat when we are exhausted by life. That is where our faith and attitudes are shaped.
Today we will be reminded that comparing and complaining get us nowhere. God provides. His goodness endures forever!

I’m So Blessed
Trouble knocking at my door today
I ain’t gonna let it in
Worry wanna steal my joy away
I ain’t gonna let it win
On my best day I’m a child of God
On my worst day I’m a child of God
Oh everyday is a good day
And You’re the reason why
I’m so blessed I’m so blessed
Got this heartbeat in my chest
No it doesn’t matter about the rest
If I got You Lord I’m so blessed
I’m so blessed hallelujah I’m blessed
I’m so blessed hallelujah I’m blessed
When I count the problems that I see
Hope looks all but gone
But when I count the ways You’re good to me
You got me counting all day long
I’m so blessed I’m so blessed
Got this heartbeat in my chest
No it doesn’t matter about the rest
If I got You Lord I’m so blessed
I’m so blessed I’m so blessed
Got this heartbeat in my chest
No it doesn’t matter about the rest
If I got You Lord I’m so blessed
On my best day I’m a child of God
On my worst day I’m a child of God
Oh everyday is a good day
And You’re the reason why
On my best day I’m a child of God
On my worst day I’m a child of God
Oh everyday is a good day
And You’re the reason why
I’m so blessed I’m so blessed
Got this heartbeat in my chest
No it doesn’t matter about the rest
If I got You Lord I’m so blessed

Got this heartbeat in my chest
No it doesn’t matter about the rest
If I got You Lord I’m so blessed

Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

Scripture Reading
1 Timothy 6:6-9 (NIV) - But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.
STP KIDS Dismissal
STP KIDS is the Children’s Ministry at St. Peter’s Edina, designed for all children from 6 months to 10 years old (Grade 5). Older children are welcome to participate as helpers. Our vision is to partner with parents in raising up a generation of children that will seek their God-given Kingdom mission and impact their world for Jesus!
Message: Where Contentment Begins
Quit comparing; quit complaining.
Contentment: The state of being satisfied with what one has.
Exodus 20:17 (NIV) - “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”
Luke 12:15 (NIV) - Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”
Matthew 6:32-33 (NIV) - “For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
Home Practice
Video Your Possessions - Go room by room and video your possessions. Narrate what you see and describe the items for the camera as you walk from room to room. Then gather people around and record each person expressing what each appreciates most about your home. Speak praise and thanksgiving for your home. God has provided for your needs.

All People That On Earth Do Dwell
All people that on
Earth do dwell
Sing to the Lord with
Cheerful voice
Him serve with fear His
Praise forth tell
Come ye before Him
And rejoice
O enter then His
Gates with praise
Approach with joy His
Courts unto
Praise laud and bless His
Name always
For it is seemly
So to do
To Father Son and
Holy Ghost
The God whom heaven and
Earth adore
From earth and from the
Angel host
Be praise and
Glory evermore
The Contentment Creed
All: I believe that God has made me and all creatures; that He has given me my body and soul, eyes, ears, and all my members, my reason and all my senses, and still preserves them; also clothing and shoes, meat and drink, house and home, wife and children, fields, cattle, and all my goods; that He richly and daily provides me with all that I need to support this body and life; that He defends me against all danger, guards and protects me from all evil; and all this purely out of fatherly divine goodness and mercy, without any merit or worthiness in me; for all which it is my duty to thank and praise, to serve and obey Him. This is most certainly true.
Confession & Forgiveness
Pastor: God our creator has blessed us - yet we fail to be content. Join me as we confess our sins together:
All: God of all creation, I realize today how I have taken for granted all that You have given me. I confess that I compare and complain far too often. Make me the thankful person I should be. Forgive me and remind me of your mercy and grace through Your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Pastor: In Christ you are forgiven! May you see His goodness in all areas of your life. May your home be filled with contentment. Amen.
The Lord’s Prayer
All: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
Communion
The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod holds the Biblical teaching that in Communion we receive the true body and blood of Jesus Christ with the bread and wine for the forgiveness of sins. If you are a baptized Christian who has been instructed in the Biblical teaching of the real presence of the Christ in this meal and grace through faith in Christ, and if you agree with our confession of faith, please join with the fellowship of disciples in Holy Communion.
“Everyone should examine themselves first, and then eat the bread and drink of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgment on himself.” (1 Corinthians 11:28-29)
Blessing
Hebrews 13:5 (NIV) - Be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
Lord I Need You
Lord I come I confess
Bowing here I find my rest
Without You I fall apart
You're the one that guides my heart
Lord I need You
Oh I need You
Every hour I need You
My one defense
My righteousness
Oh God how I need You
Where sin runs deep
Your grace is more
Where grace is found
Is where You are
And where You are
Lord I am free
Holiness is Christ in me
Lord I need You
Oh I need You
Every hour I need You
My one defense
My righteousness
Oh God how I need You
So teach my song to rise to You
When temptation comes my way
And when I cannot stand I'll fall on You
Jesus You're my hope and stay
Lord I need You
Oh I need You
Every hour I need You
My one defense
My righteousness
Oh God how I need You
You're my one defense
My righteousness
Oh God how I need You
My one defense
My righteousness
Oh God how I need You
I’m So Blessed
