Greeting

How do you go beyond the mundane routines of ordinary life and join Jesus in ministry? Look for the opportunity that God is placing right in front of you where there are needs that you can meet. Get ready for an exciting & adventurous life of faith!

Confession

Pastor: Lord Jesus,

All: We are sinful people, unworthy of Your presence, unready for Your coming, undeserving of Your mercy.

Pastor: We are guilty of sin by thought, word, and action, and deserve nothing but separation and punishment from You.

All: Today we seek Your forgiveness, for the sake of Your divine love shown to us in Jesus Christ.  In humble repentance we ask You to dwell among us with Your forgiving presence.

The Gospel

Pastor: For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.  For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. (John 3:16-17)

God, in His grace, has forgiven you!

Be Thou My Vision

Be Thou my Vision O Lord of my heart
Naught be all else to me save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought by day or by night
Waking or sleeping Thy presence my light

Be Thou my Wisdom and Thou my true Word
I ever with Thee and Thou with me Lord
Thou my great Father I Thy true son
Thou in me dwelling and I with Thee one

Riches I heed not nor man’s empty praise
Thou mine Inheritance now and always
Thou and Thou only be first in my heart
High King of Heaven my Treasure Thou art

High King of Heaven my victory won
May I reach Heaven’s joys O bright Heaven’s Sun
Heart of my own heart whatever befall
Still be my Vision O Ruler of all
Heart of my own heart whatever befall
Still be my Vision O Ruler of all

Scripture Reading

Ephesians 4:11-12 - So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up

Message: Humility

Doctrine - The worldview by which we govern our lives
Vocation - What you strive to do in your life wherever you are
Ministry - Serving others

Ephesians 4:11-12 - So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up

“Humility is not thinking less of yourself; humility is thinking of yourself less.”  - C.S. Lewis

Am I growing in my sense of humility over God’s call for me to serve Him by serving others in my various vocations in life?

1 Peter 4:10 - Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

What gift have you received from God?

What are the opportunities that God is placing right in front of you where there are needs that you can meet?

What are you waiting for?

I Will Follow

All Your ways are good
All Your ways are sure
I will trust in You alone
Higher than my sight
High above my life
I will trust in You alone

Where You go I'll go
Where You stay I'll stay
When You move I'll move
I will follow You
Who You love I'll love
How You serve I'll serve
If this life I lose
I will follow You
I will follow You

Light into the world
Light into my life
I will live for You alone
You're the One I seek
Knowing I will find
All I need in You alone
In You alone

Where You go I'll go
Where You stay I'll stay
When You move I'll move
I will follow You
Who You love I'll love
How You serve I'll serve
If this life I lose
I will follow You
I will follow You

In You there's life everlasting
In You there's freedom for my soul
In You there's joy unending joy

In You there's life everlasting
In You there's freedom for my soul
In You there's joy unending joy
And I will follow

Who You love I'll love
How You serve I'll serve
If this life I lose
I will follow

Where You go I'll go
Where You stay I'll stay
When You move I'll move

How You serve I'll serve
If this life I lose
I will follow You

I will follow You
I will follow You
I will follow You

Ministry Pledge

Pastor: Will you do all you can to bring a message of hope and comfort others with the love and forgiveness of Christ Himself?

All: I will and I ask God to help me.

Pastor: Almighty God, who has given you the will to do these things, graciously give you the strength and compassion to perform them.

Nicene Creed

All: I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth and of all things visible and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God. Begotten of His Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God. Begotten, not made. Being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made; Who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary and was made man; And was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate. He suffered and was buried. And the third day He rose again according to the Scriptures and ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father. And He will come again with glory to judge both the living and the dead, whose kingdom will have no end. And I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified. Who spoke by the prophets. And I believe in one holy Christian and apostolic Church, I acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins, and I look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Prayer

Communion

The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod holds the Biblical teaching that in Communion we receive the true body and blood of Jesus Christ with the bread and wine for the forgiveness of sins. If you are a baptized Christian who has been instructed in the Biblical teaching of the real presence of the Christ in this meal and grace through faith in Christ, and if you agree with our confession of faith, please join with the fellowship of disciples in Holy Communion.

“Everyone should examine themselves first, and then eat the bread and drink of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgment on himself.” (1 Corinthians 11:28-29)

The Lord’s Prayer

All: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

Blessing

1 Peter 4:11 - If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.

We Are

Every secret every shame
Every fear every pain
Live inside the dark
But that's not who we are
We are children of the day

So wake up sleeper lift your head
We were meant for more than this
Fight the shadows conquer death
Make the most of the time we have left

We are the light of the world
We are the city on a hill
We are the light of the world
And we gotta we gotta we gotta
Let the light shine
We are the light of the world
We are the city on a hill
We are the light of the world
And we gotta we gotta we gotta
Let the light shine

Let the light shine
Let the light shine

We are called to spread the news
To tell the world the simple truth
Jesus came to save
There's freedom in His name
So let His love break through

We are the light of the world
We are the city on a hill
We are the light of the world
And we gotta we gotta we gotta
Let the light shine
We are the light of the world
We are the city on a hill
We are the light of the world
And we gotta we gotta we gotta
Let the light shine

We are the light
We are the light
We are the light
So let your light shine brighter
We are the light
We are the light
We are the light
Jesus
You are the light
You are the light
You are the light
We will lift You high
And shine shine shine

We are the light of the world
We are the city on a hill
We are the light of the world
And we gotta we gotta we gotta
Let the light shine
We are the light of the world
We are the city on a hill
We are the light of the world
And we gotta we gotta we gotta
Let the light shine

Let the light shine
Let the light shine
Let the light shine
Let the light shine
