ORDER OF WORSHIP

Christ Be Magnified

Were creation suddenly articulate
With a thousand tongues to lift one cry
From north to south and east to west
We'd hear Christ be magnified

Were the whole earth echoing His eminence
His name would burst from sea and sky
From rivers to the mountain tops
We'd hear Christ be magnified

O Christ be magnified
Let His praise arise
Christ be magnified in me
O Christ be magnified
From the altar of my life
Christ be magnified in me

When every creature finds its inmost melody
And every human heart its native cry
Then in one enraptured hymn of praise
We'll sing Christ be magnified

O Christ be magnified
Let His praise arise
Christ be magnified in me
O Christ be magnified
From the altar of my life
Christ be magnified in me

I won't bow to idols
I'll stand strong and worship You
And if it puts me in the fire
I'll rejoice 'cause You're there too
I won't be formed by feelings
I’ll hold fast to what is true
If the cross brings transformation
Then I'll be crucified with You
'Cause death is just the doorway
Into resurrection life
If I join You in Your suffering
Then I'll join You when You rise
And when You return in glory
With all the angels and the saints
My heart will still be singing
My song will be the same

O Christ be magnified
Let His praise arise
Christ be magnified in me
O Christ be magnified
From the altar of my life
Christ be magnified in me
O Christ be magnified
Let His praise arise
Christ be magnified in me
O Christ be magnified
From the altar of my life
Christ be magnified in me

Greeting

Invocation

Pastor: “Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout in triumph, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your King is coming to you; He is righteous and victorious, humble and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.”

Pastor: “Blessed is the King, who comes in the name of the Lord!”

People: “Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”

All Glory Laud and Honor

All glory laud and honor
To You Redeemer King
To whom the lips of children
Made sweet hosannas ring

You are the King of Israel
And Davids royal Son
Now in the Lords name coming
Our King and Blessed One

All glory laud and honor
To You Redeemer King
To whom the lips of children
Made sweet hosannas ring

The multitude of pilgrims
With palms before You went
Our praise and prayer and anthems
Before You we present

All glory laud and honor
To You Redeemer King
To whom the lips of children
Made sweet hosannas ring

To You before Your passion
They sang their hymns of praise
To You now high exalted
Our melody we raise

All glory laud and honor
To You Redeemer King
To whom the lips of children
Made sweet hosannas ring

Their praises You accepted
Accept the prayers we bring
Great Author of all goodness
O good and gracious King

Scripture Reading

Luke 22:63-71 - The men who were guarding Jesus began mocking and beating him. They blindfolded him and demanded, “Prophesy! Who hit you?” And they said many other insulting things to him. At daybreak the council of the elders of the people, both the chief priests and the teachers of the law, met together, and Jesus was led before them. “If you are the Messiah,” they said, “tell us.” Jesus answered, “If I tell you, you will not believe me, and if I asked you, you would not answer. But from now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the mighty God.” They all asked, “Are you then the Son of God?” He replied, “You say that I am.” Then they said, “Why do we need any more testimony? We have heard it from his own lips.”

Son of Heaven

This is the word
Here in the flesh
Living among the meek and lowly
The voice of God
His every breath
Salvation of the world unfolding

Behold Him
Behold Him
Lift up your eyes
See the Son of Heaven
Hosanna
Hosanna
Pour out your praise
Sing the name of Jesus

This is His heart
Upon the cross
And from His wounds His mercies flowing
And now the dawn
Put death to death
And ever since that grave’s been empty

Behold Him
Behold Him
Lift up your eyes
See the Son of Heaven
Hosanna
Hosanna
Pour out your praise
Sing the name of Jesus

This is His home
Here in our chest
At every door our Savior’s knocking
Oh let Him in
Oh let Him out
With every yes His kingdom’s coming
The sound of every saint rejoicing
Oh Jesus Christ the hope of Glory

Behold Him
Behold Him
Lift up your eyes
See the Son of Heaven
Hosanna
Hosanna
Pour out your praise
Sing the name of Jesus
Behold Him
Behold Him
Lift up your eyes
See the Son of Heaven
Hosanna
Hosanna
Pour out your praise
Sing the name of Jesus
Pour out your praise
Sing the name of Jesus

Prayer

Communion

The Lord’s Supper is celebrated at this congregation in the confession and glad confidence that, as He says, our Lord gives into our mouths not only bread and wine but His very body and blood to eat and to drink for the forgiveness of sins and to strengthen our union with him and with one another. Our Lord invites to His table those who trust His words, repent of all sin, and set aside any refusal to forgive and love as He forgives and loves us, that they may show forth His death until He comes.

Because those who eat and drink our Lord’s body and blood unworthily do so to their great harm and because Holy Communion is a confession of the faith which is confessed at this altar, any who are not yet instructed, in doubt, or who hold a confession differing from that of this congregation and The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, and yet desire to receive the sacrament, are asked first to speak with the pastor. (see 1 Corinthians 11)

The Lord’s Prayer

People: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

Blessing

Luke 9:35 - A voice came from the cloud, saying, “This is my Son, whom I have chosen; listen to him.”

Crown Him With Many Crowns

Crown Him with many crowns
The Lamb upon His throne
Hark how the heavenly
Anthem drowns
All music but its own
Awake my soul and sing
Of Him who died for thee
And hail Him as thy
Matchless King
Through all eternity

Crown Him the Lord of love
Behold His hands and side
Rich wounds yet visible above
In beauty glorified
No angels in the sky
Can fully bear that sight
But downward bends
their burning eyes
At mysteries so bright

Crown Him the Lord of life
Who triumphed o'er the grave
And rose victorious
In the strife
For those He came to save
His glories now we sing
Who died and rose on high
Who died eternal life to bring
And lives that death may die

Good Friday, 6:00pm Come for a quiet remembrance of Jesus’ sacrifice from the foot of the cross. Hear from Joseph of Arimathea as he retells the story of the cross and burial.

Easter Morning, 9:30am Join with other curious men, women, boys, & girls as we journey to the empty tomb with the guidance of the Gospel of Luke. What hope awaits us all!

St. Peter’s Mission Update // 7-Year Strategic Plan

Prayer Requests

  • “Sent” Jesus was sent into this world (John 3:16) and He sends you into the world as well. That might be frightening. He promised to be with you.

  • Pray circles around our celebrations! Just as Jesus was announced as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords as He entered into Jerusalem, so we celebrate His great love for all people.  Come celebrate and invite many to join you!

Pastor Led Sunday Bible Class

We had to add two tables - now there is room for you! Every Sunday you are invited to join with fellow worshipers to study the Sunday texts more in depth. Examine the context to see the setting of the story. Be challenged to apply Biblical truth to your life. At 10:30am in the Discipleship Room to the right as you exit the sanctuary. Bring a cup of coffee and pick up a treat to enjoy on your way in. Life Application Bibles are provided for your study. There will be no class next week on Easter.

Assistance for Ukrainians

We have two opportunities to do something for the people of Ukrain. Through the ULC (Ukraine Lutheran Church) support is provided directly to those in Ukraine. Donate directly through Lutheran Church Charities Ukrainian Relief Fund button above. We now have a partnership with the First Ukrainian Evangelical Baptist Church in St. Louis Park and their missionary, Todd Carlson, who is helping Ukrainians in Kyiv. Donate through St. Peter’s giving tools with the Refugee Relief button above, or place a gift in your offering (mark your gift First Ukrainian). God is at work, through His people, to show, as the Apostle Paul states - One Lord, One Faith, One Body and Spirit!

Red Cross Blood Drive

For the 9th time, St. Peter’s & the Veterans Rotary Club that we host are sponsoring another blood drive here in the sanctuary on Thursday, April 28 from 1-7pm. Only about 8 appointments remain. We have had to turn away people at the door. So sign up today here. We also gather clothing, food, and recycle electronics for veterans. Bring those items that day as well.
