Words To Live By - Revelation

Welcome!

Today’s word to live by: REVELATION

Jesus wants to help you see what Easter means for the future.  To grasp why He went to the cross so that you and I can confidently be ready for what is going to happen in the end.  To be assured by His undeserved love and have hope (and maybe even be excited to get there!)

Thanks for joining us this morning! We’re so glad you’re here with us. If you’re new here and want to find out a bit more about our service, have questions, or want to connect, click the button below.

ORDER OF WORSHIP

Victorious

How magnificent your works O God
How expansive all that You have made
Beautiful in every way O God
Let my heart be filled with praise

Holy holy is our God
Who reigns forevermore
Seated on the throne victorious
Holy holy is our God
Who reigns in majesty
The high exalted King victorious

Strong and mighty fortress in the fight
You have scattered all my enemies
You have brought me safely through the night
Oh my heart is filled with offerings

Holy holy is our God
Who reigns forevermore
Seated on the throne victorious
Holy holy is our God
Who reigns in majesty
The high exalted King victorious

The whole earth is filled
With the glory of our God
The glory of our God
Every knee will bow
Every tongue confess and say
Holy is our God
The whole earth is filled
With the glory of our God
The glory of our God
Every knee will bow
Every tongue confess and say
Holy is our God

Holy holy is our God
Who reigns forevermore
Seated on the throne victorious
Holy holy is our God
Who reigns forevermore
Seated on the throne victorious
Holy holy is our God
Who reigns in majesty
The high exalted King victorious

Greeting

Revelation Proclamation

Pastor: Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come. Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say:

People: You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power!

Revelation 4:9-11

Revelation Song

Worthy is the Lamb Who was slain
Holy holy is He
Sing a new song to Him Who sits on
Heaven's mercy seat

Holy holy holy
Is the Lord God Almighty
Who was and is and is to come
With all creation I sing
Praise to the King of kings
You are my everything
And I will adore You

Clothed in rainbows of living color
Flashes of lightning rolls of thunder
Blessing and honor strength and
Glory and power be
To You the only wise King

Holy holy holy
Is the Lord God Almighty
Who was and is and is to come
With all creation I sing
Praise to the King of kings
You are my everything
And I will adore You

Filled with wonder
Awestruck wonder
At the mention of Your name
Jesus Your name is power
Breath and living water
Such a marvelous mystery

Holy holy holy
Is the Lord God Almighty
Who was and is and is to come
With all creation I sing
Praise to the King of kings
You are my everything
And I will adore You
Holy holy holy
Is the Lord God Almighty
Who was and is and is to come
With all creation I sing
Praise to the King of kings
You are my everything
And I will adore You

Scripture Reading

Revelation 1:1-3 - The revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, who testifies to everything he saw—that is, the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ. Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.

STP Kids Dismissal

STP Kids is the Children’s Ministry at St. Peter’s Edina, designed for all children from 6 months to 10 years old (Grade 5). Our vision is to partner with parents in raising up a generation of children that will seek their God-given Kingdom mission and impact their world for Jesus!

Message: Revelation

Revelation 1:1 - The revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place.

Revelation 1:1-2 - He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, who testifies to everything he saw—that is, the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Deuteronomy  29:29 - The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law.

Isaiah 40:5 - “And the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all people will see it together. For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”

Revelation 1:19 - “Write, therefore, what you have seen, what is now and what will take place later.”

Revelation 1:3 - Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.

Revelation 1:5-6 - To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father—to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen.

Revelation 1:8 - “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”

If asked to share three facts about Jesus that are especially significant to you, what would you say?

Confession

People: Most merciful God, we are unworthy of Your love because we have sinned by what we have done and left undone. We have at times abandoned the new life given to us through our Savior’s work by sinning against You and others in thought, word, and deed. We lock up in ourselves feelings of guilt, shame, and doubt. We often seek peace for ourselves outside of the peace that Christ has come to bring. Forgive us for the sake of Your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Prayer

The Lord’s Prayer

People: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

Blessing

Revelation 1:17-18 - “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.

Salvation Unto Us Has Come

Salvation unto us has come
By God's free grace and favor
Good works cannot
Avert our doom
They help and save us never
Faith looks to Jesus Christ alone
Who did for all the world atone
He is our one Redeemer

Since Christ hath full
Atonement made
And brought to us salvation
Each Christian therefore
May be glad
And build on this foundation
Thy grace alone dear Lord I plead
Thy death is now my life indeed
For Thou hast paid my ransom

Faith clings to Jesus' cross alone
And rests in Him unceasing
And by its fruits
True faith is known
With love and hope increasing
Yet faith alone doth justify
Works serve thy neighbor
And supply
The proof that faith is living

All blessing honor
Thanks and praise
To Father Son and Spirit
The God that saved us
By His grace
All glory to His merit
O Triune God in heaven above
Who hast revealed
Thy saving love
Thy blessed name be hallowed

Offerings

Throughout the pandemic we were blessed with generous offerings. God provided amazingly when we thought it would be difficult to cover expenses. The last months, however, have been leaner. Our leadership is bringing this to your attention to ask you to consider an increase in your regular gifts, tithes, and offerings. We have been trending with monthly shortfalls at a time when operating costs are increasing. We invite you to joyfully present each and every gift as an act of worship!

St. Peter’s Community

Prayer Requests

  • Thank God for those from the community who have joined us for worship in the last weeks. May the proclamation of Scripture bring hope and may the Spirit help many discover how they could grow in their faith and kingdom service by becoming part of our family of faith.

  • Pray circles around our church campus. Thank God for the way the Lord has drawn people to St. Peter’s from all around the metro into His church. Picture, as Christ’s followers, welcoming others into a community of care and concern.

  • Additional discussions have taken place with our neighbors and we look forward to coming together with solutions that will be a blessing for the community as we desire to meet the faith and physical needs of those around us.
