Words To Live By - Forever

Welcome!

Today’s word to live by: FOREVER

It is a much more complicated word than you might imagine. It is beyond what we can imagine because, in our world, we have never experienced forever. So John provides a glimpse of forever in Revelation.

Thanks for joining us this morning! We’re so glad you’re here with us. If you’re new here and want to find out a bit more about our service, have questions, or want to connect, click the button below.

Greeting

Pastor: In a loud voice they were saying Worthy is the Lamb who was slain,

People: to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!

Revelation Song

Worthy is the Lamb Who was slain
Holy holy is He
Sing a new song to Him Who sits on
Heaven's mercy seat

Holy holy holy
Is the Lord God Almighty
Who was and is and is to come
With all creation I sing
Praise to the King of kings
You are my everything
And I will adore You

Clothed in rainbows of living color
Flashes of lightning rolls of thunder
Blessing and honor strength and
Glory and power be
To You the only wise King

Holy holy holy
Is the Lord God Almighty
Who was and is and is to come
With all creation I sing
Praise to the King of kings
You are my everything
And I will adore You

Filled with wonder
Awestruck wonder
At the mention of Your name
Jesus Your name is power
Breath and living water
Such a marvelous mystery

Holy holy holy
Is the Lord God Almighty
Who was and is and is to come
With all creation I sing
Praise to the King of kings
You are my everything
And I will adore You
Holy holy holy
Is the Lord God Almighty
Who was and is and is to come
With all creation I sing
Praise to the King of kings
You are my everything
And I will adore You

Scripture Reading

Revelation 4:8-11 - Day and night they never stop saying: “‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty,’ who was, and is, and is to come.” Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say: “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.”

STP Kids Dismissal

STP Kids is the Children’s Ministry at St. Peter’s Edina, designed for all children from 6 months to 10 years old (Grade 5). Our vision is to partner with parents in raising up a generation of children that will seek their God-given Kingdom mission and impact their world for Jesus!

Message: Forever

Revelation 5:2-4 - “Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll?” But no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth could open the scroll or even look inside it. I wept and wept because no one was found who was worthy to open the scroll or look inside.

Revelation 5:9 - “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation.

Revelation 5:12-13 - In a loud voice they were saying: “Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!” Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying: “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!”

Revelation 5:7-8 - He went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne. And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of God’s people.

Prayer

Holy Holy Holy

Holy holy holy Lord God Almighty

Early in the morning Our song shall rise to Thee

Holy holy holy Merciful and mighty

God in three Persons Blessed Trinity

Words of Institution

Holy holy holy All the saints adore Thee

Casting down their golden crowns Around the glassy sea

Cherubim and seraphim Falling down before Thee

Which wert and art And evermore shalt be

Holy holy holy Though the darkness hide Thee

Though the eye of sinful man Thy glory may not see

Only Thou art holy There is none beside Thee

Perfect in power In love in purity

Communion

The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod holds the Biblical teaching that in Communion we receive the true body and blood of Jesus Christ with the bread and wine for the forgiveness of sins. If you are a baptized Christian who has been instructed in the Biblical teaching of the real presence of the Christ in this meal and grace through faith in Christ, and if you agree with our confession of faith, please join with the fellowship of disciples in Holy Communion.

We worship and praise our Risen Savior forever!

“Everyone should examine themselves first, and then eat the bread and drink of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgment on himself.” (1 Corinthians 11:28-29)

The Lord’s Prayer

People: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

Blessing

2 Timothy 4:18 - The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom. To him be glory forever and ever. Amen.

From All That Dwell Below The Skies

From all that dwell below the skies
Let the Creators praise arise
Alleluia alleluia
Let the Redeemers
Name be sung
Through every land
By every tongue
Alleluia alleluia
Alleluia alleluia alleluia

Eternal are Thy mercies Lord
Eternal truth attends Thy Word
Alleluia alleluia
Thy praise shall sound
From shore to shore
Till suns shall rise
And set no more
Alleluia alleluia
Alleluia alleluia alleluia

All praise to God the Father be
All praise eternal Son to Thee
Alleluia alleluia
Whom with the Spirit we adore
Forever and forevermore
Alleluia alleluia
Alleluia alleluia alleluia

Offerings

Throughout the pandemic we were blessed with generous offerings. God provided amazingly when we thought it would be difficult to cover expenses. The last months, however, have been leaner. Our leadership is bringing this to your attention to ask you to consider an increase in your regular gifts, tithes, and offerings. We have been trending with monthly shortfalls at a time when operating costs are increasing. We invite you to joyfully present each and every gift as an act of worship!

St. Peter’s Community - What is your giving story?

Prayer Requests

  • Praise God for mothers! May the Lord bless mothers of any age - each is special. May the Lord bless those desiring to be mothers - each is special. May the Lord bless those who have lost a child - each is special. Thank you Lord for mom - each is special.

  • Week of May 8:    Pray circles around our God given mission!  Families all around us desperately need to hear that we are all accepted in Christ.

  • Jim, Tosca, Naomi, & Jamie are beginning a new journey in their faith life at the end of the month. They will be headed to Pensacola, Florida where Tosca will serve as Preschool Director. Read the announcement here. Please pray for their transition - and the transition for St. Peter’s as we search for a new ECEC Director to fill Dr. Tosca’s big shoes!

  • Additional discussions have taken place with our neighbors and we look forward to coming together with solutions that will be a blessing for the community as we desire to meet the faith and physical needs of those around us.

Intersections: Change

Spend 15 minutes with Pastor Mark looking at tools that will help you live out your faith practically. Join the discussion or just sit and listen. You don’t even need to turn your screen on! Even numbered Saturdays at 8:00am. Click here for topics and the Zoom link. The next Intersection, on May 14, will cover the topic of change. We all face change in life. The way we deal with the change that comes will affect others around us, thus it has to do with the way we live out our faith. Discover guidance from Scripture.
