Greeting

God Himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else. God is not far from any one of us! Those are important reminders that we all need to hear. God is close and personal... just like mom has been

Call to Worship

Pastor: See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!
All: And that is what we are!  (1 John 3:1)

Pastor:  For those who are led by the Spirit of God
All: are the children of God.   (Romans 8:14)

Pastor: We worship in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
All: We are all children of God.
   (Matthew 28:19)

Pastor: We gather to worship together as mothers, fathers, sons and daughters.
All: In Christ, we’re all connected to each other.    (Ephesians 4:25)

No Longer Slaves

You unravel me with a melody
You surround me with a song
Of deliverance from my enemies
Till all my fears are gone

I'm no longer a slave to fear
I am a child of God
I'm no longer a slave to fear
I am a child of God

From my Mother's womb
You have chosen me
Love has called my name
I've been born again
Into Your family
Your blood flows through my veins

I'm no longer a slave to fear
I am a child of God
I'm no longer a slave to fear
I am a child of God
I'm no longer a slave to fear
I am a child of God
I'm no longer a slave to fear
I am a child of God

Oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh

You split the sea so I could walk right through it
My fears were drowned in perfect love
You rescued me so I could stand and sing
I am a child of God
You split the sea so I could walk right through it
My fears were drowned in perfect love
You rescued me so I could stand and sing
I am a child of God

I am a child of God
I am a child of God
I am a child of God

Scripture Reading

Acts 17:24-27 - The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else. From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us.

Prayer for Mothers

STP Kids Dismissal

STP Kids is the Children’s Ministry at St. Peter’s Edina, designed for all children from 6 months to 10 years old (Grade 5). Older children are welcome to participate as helpers. Our vision is to partner with parents in raising up a generation of children that will seek their God-given Kingdom mission and impact their world for Jesus!

Message: Are You Connected?

John 13:34-35 - “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

Are You Connected?

Acts 17:27 - God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us.

Acts 17:24-28 - “The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’

Prayer

We Praise You O God (LW 494)

We praise You O God
Our Redeemer Creator
In grateful devotion
Our tribute we bring
We lay it before You
We kneel and adore You
We bless Your holy name
Glad praises we sing

We worship You
God of our fathers and mothers
Through life's storm and tempest
Our guide You have been
When perils o'er take us
You never forsake us
And with Your help O Lord
Our battles we win

With voices united
Our praises we offer
Our songs of thanksgiving
To You we now raise
Your strong arm will guide us
Our God is beside us
To You our great Redeemer
Forever be praise

Confession & Forgiveness

Pastor: If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

All: But if we confess our sins, God, who is faithful and just, will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Pastor: Let us then confess our sins to God our Father.

All: Most merciful God, we confess that we are by nature sinful and unclean. We have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We justly deserve your present and eternal punishment. For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways to the glory of your holy name. Amen.

Pastor: In the mercy of almighty God, Jesus Christ was given to die for us, and for his sake God forgives us all our sins.  To those who believe in Jesus Christ he gives the power to become the children of God and bestows on them the Holy Spirit.  May the Lord, who has begun this good work in us, bring it to completion in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Communion

The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod holds the Biblical teaching that in Communion we receive the true body and blood of Jesus Christ with the bread and wine for the forgiveness of sins. If you are a baptized Christian who has been instructed in the Biblical teaching of the real presence of the Christ in this meal and grace through faith in Christ, and if you agree with our confession of faith, please join with the fellowship of disciples in Holy Communion.

“Everyone should examine themselves first, and then eat the bread and drink of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgment on himself.” (1 Corinthians 11:28-29)

The Lord’s Prayer

All: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

Blessing

Ephesians 2:13 - But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

Holy Spirit

There's nothing worth more
That will ever come close
No thing can compare
You're our living hope
Your Presence Lord

I've tasted and seen
Of the sweetest of loves
Where my heart becomes free
And my shame is undone
Your Presence Lord

Holy Spirit You are welcome here
Come flood this place and fill the atmosphere
Your glory God is what our hearts long for
To be overcome by Your Presence Lord
Your Presence Lord

There's nothing worth more
That will ever come close
No thing can compare
You're our living hope
Your Presence Lord

I've tasted and seen
Of the sweetest of loves
Where my heart becomes free
And my shame is undone
Your Presence Lord

Holy Spirit You are welcome here
Come flood this place and fill the atmosphere
Your glory God is what our hearts long for
To be overcome by Your Presence Lord
Your Presence Lord

Let us become more aware of Your Presence
Let us experience the glory of Your goodness
Let us become more aware of Your Presence
Let us experience the glory of Your goodness
Let us become more aware of Your Presence
Let us experience the glory of Your goodness

Holy Spirit You are welcome here
Come flood this place and fill the atmosphere
Your glory God is what our hearts long for
To be overcome by Your Presence Lord
