Words To Live By - Tithe

Welcome!

Today’s word to live by: TITHE

Oh, no… a whole service about guilt? Not exactly. The Bible tells us that tithing is a way to show that we trust God with our lives. And when that happens you will discover a sense of mission and purpose and freedom from guilt. The tithe is actually a gift of our loving Lord!

Thanks for joining us this morning! We’re so glad you’re here with us. If you’re new here and want to find out a bit more about our service, have questions, or want to connect, click the button below.

ORDER OF WORSHIP

Greeting

Praise To The Lord

Praise to the Lord the Almighty
The King of creation
O my soul praise Him
For He is your
Health and salvation
Let all who hear
Now to His temple draw near
Joining in glad adoration

Praise to the Lord
Who o'er all things
Is wondrously reigning
And as on wings of an eagle
Uplifting sustaining
Have you not seen
All that is needful has been
Sent by His gracious ordaining

Praise to the Lord
Who will prosper your work
And defend you
Surely His goodness and mercy
Shall daily attend you
Ponder anew
What the Almighty can do
As with His love
He befriends you

Praise to the Lord
O let all that is
In me adore Him
All that has life and breath
Come now with
Praises before Him
Let the Amen
Sound from His people again
Gladly forever adore Him

Invocation & Call to Worship

Romans 12:1-2

Pastor: Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God

People: This is our true and proper worship.

Pastor: Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

People: Then we will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.

Take My Life, And Let It Be

Take my life and let it be
Consecrated Lord to Thee
Take my moments and my days
Let them flow in ceaseless praise

Take my hands and let them move
At the impulse of Thy love
Take my feet and let them be
Swift and beautiful for Thee

Take my silver and my gold
Not a mite would I withhold
Take my intellect and use
Ev’ry pow’r as Thou shalt choose

Take my love my Lord I pour
At Thy feet its treasure store
Take myself and I will be
Ever only all for Thee

Scripture Reading

Malachi 3:6-11 - “I the Lord do not change. So you, the descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed. Ever since the time of your ancestors you have turned away from my decrees and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you,” says the Lord Almighty. “But you ask, ‘How are we to return?’ “Will a mere mortal rob God? Yet you rob me. “But you ask, ‘How are we robbing you?’ “In tithes and offerings. You are under a curse—your whole nation—because you are robbing me. Bring the whole titheinto the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it. I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not drop their fruit before it is ripe,” says the Lord Almighty.

STP Kids Dismissal

Message: Tithe

What Is A Tithe?

Why Should You tithe?

Do you have to tithe?

How do you tithe?

Malachi 3:6-7 - “I the Lord do not change. So you, the descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed. Ever since the time of your ancestors you have turned away from my decrees and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you,” says the Lord Almighty.”

Malachi 3:7-10 - “But you ask, ‘How are we to return?’ “Will a mere mortal rob God? Yet you rob me. “But you ask, ‘How are we robbing you?’ “In tithes and offerings. You are under a curse—your whole nation—because you are robbing me. Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.

Malachi 3:11 - I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not drop their fruit before it is ripe,” says the Lord Almighty.

Malachi 3:1 - “I will send my messenger, who will prepare the way before me. Then suddenly the Lord you are seeking will come to his temple; the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, will come,” says the Lord Almighty.”

Prayer

The Lord’s Prayer

People: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

Blessing

Malachi 3:12 - “Then all the nations will call you blessed, for yours will be a delightful land,” says the Lord Almighty.”

We Praise You O God

We praise You O God
Our Redeemer Creator
In grateful devotion
Our tribute we bring
We lay it before You
We kneel and adore You
We bless Your holy name
Glad praises we sing

We worship You
God of our fathers and mothers
Through life's storm and tempest
Our guide You have been
When perils o'er take us
You never forsake us
And with Your help O Lord
Our battles we win

With voices united
Our praises we offer
Our songs of thanksgiving
To You we now raise
Your strong arm will guide us
Our God is beside us
To You our great Redeemer
Forever be praise

LIVING OUT YOUR FAITH

Prayer Requests

  • Godly Fathers are a blessing to their children everyday. Proverbs 20:7: “The righteous lead blameless lives; blessed are their children after them.”

  • Praise the Lord for the joy we experience when we put God first in our lives – as we sing, “Take my silver and my gold, not a mite would I withhold.”

  • Pray as we consider our giving as a response of our personal worship. May we be filled with the Spirit so that we trust and act as we see God powerfully at work in our ministries at St. Peter’s.

  • As we look to the ministry year before us and the many opportunities it brings, may the Lord lead us to pledge to support our ministry goals.

  • A submitted prayer request: “Lord, we have received your message!! We are to use your house as it has been designed and built! How it is in need to have all spaces / areas repaired, put into usable condition. Lord, your help and guidance is needed and the courage to do so.

  • “Just because a program ended, does not mean it was a failure.” Give God the glory for the great things He has done through the years through our ministries and outreaches.
