Today’s word to live by: LOVE

The greatest joy of parents is seeing their children all grown up and living a life of love - blessing their own children, their spouses, their neighbors. When the children decide to live a life of love, the parents know their love has been received and made complete. This is how it is for God, your Father. He has been pouring His love into you all your life, even when you were too young to remember it. When you grow up and live a life of love, you give evidence that God's love has been born in you and has been made complete in you. Do you want to give evidence that God's love is in you? Go love someone else.


Believe

It is one thing to know the story of the Bible. It’s another thing to live it. We are going to pull out our Believe topical Bibles and look at the 3rd section. It will help us answer the Who am I becoming? question. To do this we will find clear Biblical guidance to help us live fruitful lives. Our themes over the next 10 Sundays will be the fruit of the Spirit. So please dig out your Believe Bible (or pick up a copy to use these weeks). Remember if you can’t be with us that the messages are available on our St. Peter’s website / YouTube channel. We previously covered Discover & Connect. Now we move on to the third part of our next step: Engage. Please bring the Believe Bible each week to use during the message.

1 John 4:10-11 - This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.


A Litany of Love

(based on John 3:16, Romans 5:8, 1 John 4:8-9, 3:1, 4:11-12, 18-19)

Pastor: For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

People: But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Pastor: He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

People: In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.

Pastor: Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us,

People: That we should be called children of God!

Pastor: Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

People: No one has seen God at any time.  If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us.

Pastor: There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment.  But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.

People: We love Him because He first loved us.

STP Kids Dismissal

STP Kids is the Children’s Ministry at St. Peter’s Edina, designed for all children from 6 months to 10 years old (Grade 5). Our vision is to partner with parents in raising up a generation of children that will seek their God-given Kingdom mission and impact their world for Jesus!


Message: Love

Mark 12:28 - “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”

Mark 12:30 - “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.”

Mark 12:31 - "Love your neighbor as yourself."

The Lord’s Prayer

People: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Offerings

Thank you for those who responded this week by increasing your automated offerings. The leadership will be providing ministry updates and an opportunity for worshippers to make pledges to help us prepare for the work that is before us in sharing the Good News.


Living Out Your Faith

Thank you to those of you who have completed a pledge for the ministry year that started July 1. It is not too late to make a pledge to support our Annual Ministry Plan that was approved as we live out our faith in the following months.


 
 

Prayer Requests

  • We give thanks for our Nation, for our freedoms, for the privilege to assemble together to worship our Lord and Savior!

  • As we look to the ministry year before us and the many opportunities it brings, may the Lord lead us to honor our pledge to support our ministry goals.

  • Please pray for Tim Gaudineer as he is in the midst of a series of kidney surgeries. May the Lord grant health and happiness.

Celebrating Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness

On July 4th, our nation will celebrate its 246th birthday!

Our nation’s birth certificate – the Declaration of Independence – states, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

It is a bold declaration of truth that must be remembered today, and always – God created us, and our rights come from Him. But we also have a responsibility to ensure those rights are protected. On this Fourth of July, we have so much to celebrate: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
