Words To Live By - Hope
Welcome!

Today’s word to live by: Hope
We hope for a lot of things during our lives. But God gives us a different kind of hope. Christian hope is anchored in the actions of God in the past, the promise of God's presence now, and the confidence that God will keep His promises in the future. Hope is the anchor for our souls. We can cope with the hardships of life because of the hope we have in Jesus Christ.
"May Your unfailing love be with us as we put our hope in You." Psalm 33

Cornerstone
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus' blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly trust in Jesus' Name
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus' blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly trust in Jesus' Name
Christ alone cornerstone
Weak made strong
In the Savior’s love
Through the storm
He is Lord Lord of all
When darkness seems to hide His face
I rest on His unchanging grace
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil
My anchor holds within the veil
Christ alone cornerstone
Weak made strong
In the Savior’s love
Through the storm
He is Lord Lord of all
Christ alone cornerstone
Weak made strong
In the Savior’s love
Through the storm
He is Lord Lord of all
When He shall come with trumpet sound
Oh may I then in Him be found
Dressed in His righteousness alone
Faultless stand before the throne
Christ alone cornerstone
Weak made strong
In the Savior’s love
Through the storm
He is Lord Lord of all
Invocation and Words of Hope from Jeremiah 17
Pastor: Blessed are those who trust in the Lord,
People: Those who have made the Lord their hope and confidence.
Pastor: They are like trees planted along a riverbank,
People: With roots that reach deep into the water.
Pastor: It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green.
People: It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.
Living Hope
How great the chasm that lay between us
How high the mountain I could not climb
In desperation I turned to heaven
And spoke Your name into the night
Then through the darkness Your loving-kindness
Tore through the shadows of my soul
The work is finished the end is written
Jesus Christ my living hope
Who could imagine so great a mercy
What heart could fathom such boundless grace
The God of ages stepped down from glory
To wear my sin and bear my shame
The cross has spoken I am forgiven
The King of kings calls me His own
Beautiful Savior I’m Yours forever
Jesus Christ my living hope
Hallelujah
Praise the One who set me free
Hallelujah
Death has lost its grip on me
You have broken every chain
There’s salvation in Your name
Jesus Christ my living hope
Hallelujah
Praise the One who set me free
Hallelujah
Death has lost its grip on me
You have broken every chain
There’s salvation in Your name
Jesus Christ my living hope
Then came the morning that sealed the promise
Your buried body began to breathe
Out of the silence the Roaring Lion
Declared the grave has no claim on me
Then came the morning that sealed the promise
Your buried body began to breathe
Out of the silence the Roaring Lion
Declared the grave has no claim on me
Jesus Yours is the victory
Hallelujah
Praise the One who set me free
Hallelujah
Death has lost its grip on me
You have broken every chain
There’s salvation in Your name
Jesus Christ my living hope
Hallelujah
Praise the One who set me free
Hallelujah
Death has lost its grip on me
You have broken every chain
There’s salvation in Your name
Jesus Christ my living hope
Jesus Christ my living hope
Oh God You are my living hope
Scripture Reading
Hebrews 6:19-20 - We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf.

STP Kids Dismissal
STP Kids is the Children’s Ministry at St. Peter’s Edina, designed for all children from 6 months to 10 years old (Grade 5). Our vision is to partner with parents in raising up a generation of children that will seek their God-given Kingdom mission and impact their world for Jesus!
Message: Hope
Key Question - How do I deal with the hardships and struggles of life?
Hebrews 11:1 - Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
Hebrews 6:19 - We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.
Hebrews 6:13-15 - When God made his promise to Abraham, since there was no one greater for him to swear by, he swore by himself, saying, “I will surely bless you and give you many descendants.” And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised.
Hebrews 6:19-20 - We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf.
Where are you putting your anchor?
Psalm 146:2-5 - I will praise the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live. Do not put your trust in princes, in human beings, who cannot save. When their spirit departs, they return to the ground; on that very day their plans come to nothing. Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord their God.
Key Idea - I can cope with the hardships of life because of the hope I have in Jesus Christ.
Prayer
The Lord’s Prayer
People: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
Blessing
Psalm 33:22 - May your unfailing love be with us, Lord, even as we put our hope in you.
O God Our Help In Ages Past
O God our help in ages past
Our hope for years to come
Our shelter from the stormy blast
And our eternal home
Under the shadow of Your throne
Your saints have dwelt secure
Sufficient is Your arm alone
And our defense is sure
Before the hills in order stood
Or earth received her frame
From everlasting You are God
To endless years the same
Our God our help in ages past
Our hope for years to come
Still be our guard while troubles last
And our eternal home
Offerings
There is a basket at the entrance to the sanctuary to present an offering during in-person worship. Here are additional opportunities for giving as part of your worship:
Prayer Requests
May we find our Hope in Jesus who calms storms. He is the anchor for our souls, firm and secure!
We currently have one opening in our High-5 classroom for the fall. May the Lord draw the young boy or girl and family to St. Peter’s so we may introduce them to Jesus and serve them with love and acceptance.
Pray for the work of the Edina School District as they prepare for the coming school year and as we continue to explore partnerships with St. Peter’s & the schools to serve the needs of residents.
