Words To Live By - Patience
Welcome!
Thanks for joining us this morning! We’re so glad you’re here with us. If you’re new here and want to find out a bit more about our service, have questions, or want to connect, click the button below.
Today’s word to live by: PATIENCE
When you think of patience, think of a thermometer. When you are in a situation that pushes your buttons and frustrates you, put a spiritual thermometer under your tongue and monitor how quickly you are burning up with anger. Offer the same patience to others that Christ has shown you.
Believe
Our themes for 10 Sundays are found in the Believe topical Bible. You may pick up a copy at the Welcome Center. (The Bible readings are also listed below to read in your own Bible.) Order of Worship
Yes I Will
I count on one thing
The same God that never fails
Will not fail me now
You won't fail me now
In the waiting
The same God who's never late
Is working all things out
You're working all things out
Yes I will lift You high
In the lowest valley
Yes I will bless Your name
Yes I will sing for joy
When my heart is heavy
All my days yes I will
I count on one thing
The same God that never fails
Will not fail me now
You won't fail me now
In the waiting
The same God who's never late
Is working all things out
You're working all things out
Yes I will lift You high
In the lowest valley
Yes I will bless Your name
Yes I will sing for joy
When my heart is heavy
All my days yes I will
For all my days yes I will
I choose to praise
To glorify glorify
The name of all names
That nothing can stand against
I choose to praise
To glorify glorify
The name of all names
That nothing can stand against
I choose to praise
To glorify glorify
The name of all names
That nothing can stand against
I choose to praise
To glorify glorify
The name of all names
That nothing can stand against
Yes I will lift You high
In the lowest valley
Yes I will bless Your name
Yes I will sing for joy
When my heart is heavy
All my days yes I will
For all my days yes I will
For all my days yes I will
Greeting and Invocation
Scriptures of Patience
Pastor: Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, we clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. (Colossians 3:12)
Pastor: Every time we think of you, we thank God for you. Day and night you're in our prayers as we call to mind your work of faith, your labor of love, and your patience of hope in following our Master, Jesus Christ, before God our Father. It is clear to us, friends, that God not only loves you very much but also has put his hand on you for something special. (1 Thessalonians 1:2)
Pastor: May God, who gives this patience and encouragement, help you live in complete harmony with each other, as is fitting for followers of Christ Jesus. Then all of you can join together with one voice, giving praise and glory to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans 15:5-6)
People: The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. (Galatians 5:22-23)
Do It Again
Walking around these walls
I thought by now they'd fall
But you have never failed me yet
Waiting for change to come
Knowing the battle's won
For you have never failed me yet
Your promise still stands
Great is your faithfulness
Faithfulness
I'm still in your hands
This is my confidence
You've never failed me yet
I know the night won't last
Your word will come to pass
My heart will sing your praise again
Jesus you're still enough
Keep me within your love
My heart will sing your praise again
Your promise still stands
Great is your faithfulness
Faithfulness
I'm still in your hands
This is my confidence
You've never failed
Your promise still stands
Great is your faithfulness
Faithfulness
I'm still in your hands
This is my confidence
You've never failed me yet
I've seen you move
You move the mountains
And I believe
I'll see you do it again
You made a way
Where there was no way
And I believe
I'll see you do it again
I've seen you move
You move the mountains
And I believe
I'll see you do it again
You made a way
Where there was no way
And I believe
I'll see you do it again
I've seen you move
You move the mountains
And I believe
I'll see you do it again
You made a way
Where there was no way
And I believe
I'll see you do it again
I'll see you do it again
You've never failed me yet
I never will forget
You've never failed me yet
I never will forget

STP Kids Dismissal
STP Kids is the Children’s Ministry at St. Peter’s Edina, designed for all children from 6 months to 10 years old (Grade 5). Our vision is to partner with parents in raising up a generation of children that will seek their God-given Kingdom mission and impact their world for Jesus!
Message: Patience
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 - Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
Patience is the balance of time and expectations
God is patient with us
Psalm 86:15 - But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.
2 Peter 3:8-9 - But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
James 1:19-20 - My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.
Ephesians 4:2 - Be patient, bearing with one another in love.
Proverbs 14:29 - Patient people have great understanding.
Prayer
Personal Confession
Pastor: Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. (Colossians 3:12)
Pastor: Let us confess our sins to God our Father.
People: Gracious God, we confess to You our sin, especially our lack of patience that tempts us at times to give up or to take control, preferring our ways to Your way. By the cross of Your Son forgive our sin and give us a new heart of prayer filled with hope in You.
Proclamation of Grace
Pastor: "I am with you to save you and deliver you," declares the Lord. (Jeremiah 15: 20)
Pastor: Upon this, your confession, I, by virtue of my office as a called and ordained servant of the Word, announce the grace of God to all of you. In the stead and by the command of my Lord Jesus Christ, I forgive you all your sins, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
People: Amen.
The Lord’s Prayer
People: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
Blessing
James 5:8 - You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near.
Rejoice O Pilgrim Throng
Rejoice O pilgrim throng
Rejoice give thanks and sing
Your festal banner wave on high
The cross of Christ your king
Rejoice Rejoice
Rejoice give thanks and sing
With voice as full and strong
As oceans surging praise
Send forth the sturdy hymns of old
The psalms of ancient days
Rejoice Rejoice
Rejoice give thanks and sing
Still lift your standard high
Still march in firm array
As pilgrims through the darkness wend
Till dawns the golden day
Rejoice Rejoice
Rejoice give thanks and sing
Praise him who reigns on high
The Lord whom we adore
The Father Son and Holy Ghost
One God forevermore
Rejoice Rejoice
Rejoice give thanks and sing
