A Prayer For Our Neighbors

Pastor: Lord, bless our neighbors with your love and peace, and help us to build friendships and community with them.

All: May my neighbors notice Your love through my actions.

Pastor: Make us bold to share the good news about Jesus in a way that it changes their hearts.

All: Give me compassion for my neighbors that they may know and experience the Love of Jesus.

Pastor: We pray that they may believe the truth, call on Your name, and be saved! (Romans 10:13)

All: Amen.

His Name Is Jesus

The King is in the room
Come see the scars of love upon His hands
The King is in the room
We’ll watch the darkness flee at His command
Who is this King
Who is this King

His name is Jesus
His name is Jesus
Light of the world
There’s freedom in His name
Awesome in power
Reigning forever
Light of the world
There’s freedom in His name

The Healer's in the room
Let miracles break out across this place
The Savior's in the room
No soul beyond the boundaries of His grace
There’s resurrection power in His name

His name is Jesus
His name is Jesus
Light of the world
There’s freedom in His name
Awesome in power
Reigning forever
Light of the world
There’s freedom in His name
There's freedom in His name

There's freedom in His name

There’s never been a love so great
He died so we could live
Then He rose up from that grave
Name another King like this
Now all authority
Forever belongs to Him
He reigns in victory
Name another King like this
There’s never been a love so great
He died so we could live
Then He rose up from that grave
Name another King like this
Now all authority
Forever belongs to Him
He reigns in victory
Name another King like this

Name another King like this
Who is this King

His name is Jesus
His name is Jesus
Light of the world
There’s freedom in His name
Awesome in power
Reigning forever
Light of the world
There’s freedom in His name
There's freedom in His name

There's never been a King like this
His name is Jesus

Scripture Reading

1 Timothy 2:1–4 - I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

STP KIDS Dismissal

STP KIDS is the Children’s Ministry at St. Peter’s Edina, designed for all children from 6 months to 10 years old (Grade 5). Older children are welcome to participate as helpers. Our vision is to partner with parents in raising up a generation of children that will seek their God-given Kingdom mission and impact their world for Jesus!

Message: Prayer Coverage

1 Timothy 2:1 - I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people

1 Timothy 2:2 - [Pray] for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.

1 Timothy 2:3-4 - This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

1 Samuel 12:23 - “Far be it from me that I should sin against the LORD by failing to pray for you.”

Action Step

“How may I pray for you?”

The Lord’s Prayer

Pastor: Jesus taught His disciples to pray. Our homes should be places of prayer where we are privileged to call upon and bring glory to the name of our Lord and Savior. We also do so here, in Gods house, as we pray together:

All: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Pastor: After Jesus rose from the dead He ascended into heaven. We celebrate that our Lord Jesus Christ completed His earthly work and returned to the right hand of the Father.  To God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit we ascribe our praise.:

All: For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.

Pastor: What does this mean?

All: God tenderly invites us to believe that He is our true Father, and that we are His true children, so that with all boldness and confidence we may ask Him as dear children ask their dear father.

Confession & Forgiveness

Pastor: Heavenly Father, we do not always pray as we ought.  Help us to speak our truth and to listen for your forgiveness:

When we pray, “Our Father” but forget to embrace all people as your children…

When we say, “Your kingdom come” without working for your kingdom on earth…

When we ask for our daily bread, but do not recognize it as your gift…

When we request forgiveness for ourselves, but fail to pardon others…

When we plead not to be led into evil, but walk willingly into temptation…

Pastor: Please join me in confessing:

All:  Heavenly Father, forgive me. Help me to pray, that I may be transformed by Your renewing power. Through prayer may I find refreshment in your love, grace, and forgiveness… all gifts of our Father in heaven. Amen.

Pastor: Brothers and Sisters in Christ, hear these words regarding prayer:  “Ask and it will be given to you; search, and you will find; knock and the door will be opened for you.”  Know that God longs to hear your prayer as a Father hears His child. Believe the good news of the gospel: In Jesus Christ we are forgiven. (Matthew 7:7)

Communion

The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod holds the Biblical teaching that in Communion we receive the true body and blood of Jesus Christ with the bread and wine for the forgiveness of sins. If you are a baptized Christian who has been instructed in the Biblical teaching of the real presence of the Christ in this meal and grace through faith in Christ, and if you agree with our confession of faith, please join with the fellowship of disciples in Holy Communion.

“Everyone should examine themselves first, and then eat the bread and drink of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgment on himself.” (1 Corinthians 11:28-29)
